Trainees were able to demonstrate the tasks required of this particular competency using the Demonstration Method
and direct observation from advanced trainees coupled with questioning. Reading the modules alone was not enough for
students to be able to perform the tasks. Some trainees could not internalize and apply into practice what they have
read. Availability of tools/equipment and facilities helped much for them to successfully take the Assessment.

Welcome!
The unit of competency, “Apply Finishing Touches on Casual Apparel”
is one of the competencies of DRESSMAKING NC II, a course which
comprises the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for TVET trainer
to posses.
The module, “Applying Finishing Touches on Casual Apparel”
contains different kinds of packaging materials and procedure in
labeling and packaging finished garments for you to complete.
In this module, you are required to go through a series of learning
activities to complete each learning outcome. In each learning outcome
are Information Sheets, Self-Checks, Task Sheets and Job Sheets.
Follow and perform the activities on your own. If you have questions,
don’t hesitate to ask you facilitator for assistance.
Remember to:

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Finishing touches are checked in accordance with garments
design/style specifications
2. Accessories and accents position are marked and attached in
accordance with garment design/style specification
3. Garment is checked for loose threads, missing buttons and
attachments
4. Bodice hems allowances and sleeves are folded and pinned in
accordance with customer’s specifications
5. Hemline allowances are sewn in accordance with the given
stitch/seam specifications
6. Accessories and accents are sewn by hand or machine in
accordance to garment design/style specifications
7. Finishing operations are performed in accordance with
customer’s specifications and company’s procedures.
8. Garments are trimmed of excess threads in accordance with
sewing procedures

application pressure, without the need for
a solvent (such as water) or heat for
activation. It can be used in the home,
office, industry, and institutions for a
wide variety of purposes.
4. Metal or Aluminum
– This type of packaging is normally
used for canned goods, sodas and
alcoholic drinks like beer. Although
aluminum is good for packaging,
challenge is it is quite expensive to
make one that is why you would hear
people trying to get all the used cans
that they can find so that they can have
it for recycling.
6. Glass
–It is frequently used for preserved
foods such as jams and honey. This
type of packaging is easy to use and
can be recycled over and over again.
Glass is also used for consumable
goods such as sodas, beer and wine.
Although this packaging is fragile, it
is still widely used across almost all
industries.
