ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION (BASIC) AWARD

INSTRUCTION SHEET

This document consists of two pages.

Learning Outcome
To increase the awareness of members on the current environmental around their community

Requirements
1. Construct a functional model using AT LEAST TWO(2) recycle items. Sketch out a prototype model and submit
to your person-in-charge before proceeding of building the model.
E.g.: Pencil Case, Plant in a container, Spoon Lamp, Beautifully Designed Vase

Below are acceptable standard of recycle items are

• Newspaper
• Tin Cans
• Unwanted A4 paper
• Paper Cups
• Glass Bottles
• Plastic Containers
• Plastic Bottles
• PVC Pipe
• Others (Note: Do contact PIC for approval)

Besides constructing the model, you will need to

1. Name your model. Eg. Pencil case
2. List out your materials used. Eg. Newspaper, plastic spoon
3. List out the steps how you construct the model

*Include the image of your prototype model and image of your final model in your final folio.

2. Below are some of the Environmental Problems happening in our world:
Category 1
• Air Pollution
• Water Pollution
• Soil Pollution
• Global Warming

Category 2
• Overpopulation
• Natural Resource Depletion
• Waste Disposal
• Climate Change
• Loss of Biodiversity
• Deforestation

Category 3
• Ocean Acidification
• Ozone Layer Depletion
• Acid Rain
• Urban Sprawl
• Public Health Issues

In this task, there are a few steps to follow

1. Pick one (1) environmental problem from each category.
2. Find an article regarding each of the environmental problems that you had selected.
3. Answer the following questions based on the articles.
- Use your own words to describe three (3) of the environmental problem that you had chosen.
- What is the title of the article ?
- Write a summary (about 100 words) based on what is discussed in the article.
- Do they provide solutions for the environmental problem ?
i. If YES please state all of the ways that are mentioned.
ii. If NO please list out your own ways (3 ways) to solve the environmental problem.
- Does the environmental problem discussed in the article happening in Malaysia ?
i. If YES, do source if there are any local organizations that are solving the environmental problem.
ii. If NO, find out any international orginizations that are currently solving the enviornmental problem.
