Name of Activity BUILDING COMMITMENT FOR A RESILIENT SWFR

Rationale The Surigao Watershed Forest Reserve (SWFR) is an important
resource providing ecosystem services for the province of Surigao del
Norte. Tourism potential, water source and habitat for wildlife are
some major services provided by the PA. However, as of to date,
financial support on biodiversity conservation and its sustainable
management is wanting which may affect the PA's resilience and
equitable sharing of benefits, hence, there is a need to create
collaboration and partnership with potential partners that can provide
the needed assistance.

It is in this context that a one (1) day activity will be proposed which
aims to develop convergence among concerned stakeholders taking
the role as environmental advocates and their power to transform the
communities’ views on biodiversity conservation in SWFR.

Through this activity we will have a shared responsibility and goal

in taking good care of the environment, specifically, Surigao Watershed
Forest Reserve.

Objectives 1. To identify potential partners in the management,

conservation and protection of SWFR
2. To secure commitment and partnership among interested
stakeholders
Methods/Specific 1. Brief overview/rationale of the activity
activities 2. Briefer about SWFR
3. Short messages from key officials
4. Imprinting of hands on the tree of commitment as symbolism
of shared commitments
Expected Outputs The output are activity report, documentation, and initial
commitment from stakeholders/partners (tree of commitment)
