1. Getting started To get started in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, customers must activate all required scope items. In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, the BC Sets (business configuration) and Business Functions need to be activated. The BC sets will provide the customers with the model Reporting Entity configuration. Activating the business functions will activate the various features of the Statutory Reporting framework. Activation of BC Sets (OP only) Activation of Business Functions (OP only) 2. Configuring the supporting components Additionally, the statutory reporting framework relies on various supporting components and services to deliver the various features as they are meant to be. We will now walk you through what these components and services are, what's their significance and where can you find resources to help you configure them. We will also briefly discuss which components are mandatory to configure, and which components can be skipped, based on your statutory reporting requirements. The first component that needs to be configured, is bgRFC. In the Run Statutory Reports application, a user has the capability to generate reports. This report generation process happens in the background. To do so, bgRFC needs to be configured. This is a mandatory step. If this is not done, the run generation will fail, and the Run Statutory Reports application will not function. There may also be scenarios where the reports generated need to be in PDF format. You might also have a scenario where you need to send withholding tax certificates to your business partners, such as vendors and customers. To generate files in PDF format, ADS needs to be configured. This configuration is only required if you come across one of the aforementioned scenarios. This is not a mandatory step. However, it is recommended to carry out this configuration as part of the initial implementation. We briefly touched upon the scenario where withholding tax certificates need to be sent to business partners. To support this, statutory reporting uses the component, Output Management. Output Management helps in sending the certificates to the business partners via supported channels, such as print and email. This is not a mandatory step, but if you have a withholding tax report in your scope, and you need to send certificates, this configuration becomes mandatory. Now, all the files or documents that were generated during report creation, are stored in a repository. Not just the generated documents or files, but even the documents that were uploaded as attachments, need to be stored in a repository. Statutory reporting makes use of attachment service to achieve this. This again, is a mandatory step. As part of statutory reporting process, there are certain reports that need to be submitted electronically to the tax authorities. We leverage SAP Document and Reporting Compliance Service, previously known as SLHACR, to enable electronic submission of reports. In case of On-Premise landscape, an RFC needs to be configured to enable electronic submission. In the case of cloud landscape, communication system and arrangement needs to be configured. The details of this will be covered later on. Configuring bgRFC communication Configuring Adobe Document Services Configuring Output Management
