Hello, everyone.

I'm Marie Vivian Domanick from 6 Inovatif

of SK Bahang, Penampang. Our school code is XBA4128.

I am a school prefect, a shy but jocund bookworm and my

ambition is to become a teacher. I'm the only daughter in
the family and I have 2 brothers. I really love reading
about animals and nature. My favourite pastime is reading
books in a quiet and cosy place like the library.

I participated in the State Level Rocket Science

Competition recently, we didn't get any placing though, but
this never stopped me from moving on and getting
involved with many other contests. Plus, my teacher never
stopped motivating me to try again. So I have decided to
challenge myself and joined this book review competition
this year.

The book that I want to share is entitled "Elephants Have

Small Eyes". This book was written by Mimi Samuel. It has
16 pages altogether. This book is about an elephant that
was very rude and didn't want to be friends with other
animals. The elephant was called The King of The Jungle
at that time. That was because he defeated all the other
animals in the jungle.
One day, the rhinoceros challenged him to a fight. The
elephant tossed the rhinoceros into a large river and won
the challenge. Soon after that, the tiger was also beaten
by the strong elephant. The elephant also managed to
defeat the fierce lion. He was very proud of himself for
beating the fiercest and largest animals in the jungle. He
become more arrogant, day by day.

One day, after the elephant attacked a mouse deer, he

went into the Orang Asli’s farm to eat some sugar canes.
He didn't realize that actually, the Orang Asli people were
waiting for him. Suddenly, the people attacked him with
their spears. The elephant screamed loudly as the spears
hit his ears and trunk. The elephant tried to run away.
Unfortunately, he ran into some sharpened bamboo poles
hidden in the bushes. The elephant cried out even more
loudly in pain because the sharpened bamboo poles
poked the elephant’s eyes.

The other animals in the jungle wanted to help the

elephant despite his arrogance and rudeness. One of
them was The Worm King. He pitied the elephant. He
thought that the elephant deserved a second chance.
Thus, the worm offered the elephant his eyes.
Miraculously, the elephant could see again! From that day
onwards, the elephant have small eyes. He finally learned
his lesson and started treating everyone well.
Great story isn’t it? The moral of the story is don't be
selfish and arrogant. Be kind and friendly. As the saying
goes, as you sow so you shall reap. If you do good to
others, others will do good to you in return. Be like the
Worm King who is not selfish and filled with kindness.
Don’t be like the elephant who thinks only about victory
but neglected his friends. We need each other.

As how Rick Pitino put it: “Humility is the true key to

success. Successful people lose their way at times. They
often embrace and overindulge from the fruits of success.
Humility halts this arrogance and self-indulging trap.
Humble people share the credit and wealth, remaining
focused and hungry to continue the journey of success.”

That's all from me, everyone. Thank you for listening. Bye!
