DESCRIPTION
● Rustic backyard bar designed to seat up to 8 people around
● Simple and sturdy design with moderate skill level required to
build
● Panels and roof bolt together to allow for disassembly for transport
or storage (if desired)
● Plan includes detailed dimensions and very specific notes,
material list, and pictures to aid in fabrication
● Specific notes included for planning your cuts in order to minimize
scrap

3
READ BEFORE STARTING
● 2 person build
● Estimated 2 full days for construction. Finish/staining time additional.
● Use proper safety equipment during construction and when disassembling / assembling panels. Watch sharp edges
of metal roof.
● Material list includes exact lumber quantities to minimize scrap. You may choose to order extras of certain pieces if
you wish.
● Before starting construction, verify that your lumber yard gave you the correct pieces and correct qty, and that the
quality is satisfactory. Stack them by type/size.
● Build each panel in the order laid out in these instructions. Material list is based on saving scrap pieces for
subsequent steps.
● The notes in the material list for each panel will tell you if you are using a scrap piece from a previous step, or saving
the scrap for a subsequent step. Label the scrap that will be used for later steps and put aside.
● For each panel, build the frame first, then fasten outer sheathing to the frame. Sheathing provides rigidity to the
frame.
● Once the right, left, front and back panels are completed, bolt them together with the front corner posts. The roof is
the only panel that will be constructed in place.
● Once fully assembled, you can level the bar by cutting scrap pieces of the 4’x4” pressure treated posts.
● If outer sheathing (cedar) only has 1 finished side, make sure finished side is facing out when fastening.
● Knotty cedar chosen for outer sheathing for it’s look and natural weather resistance. To save cost, substitute with
something such as white pine. Staining will provide some protection, however, pine does not have the same weather
resistance as cedar, so longevity may be affected.
● Material list does not include lumber for TV mounting, as the mounting pattern varies by model.
● Before starting, it is highly suggested to run a GFCI outlet to the wall of the house that the bar will be up against (if
applicable) if one does not exist.
● Suggested to have at least 1 to 2 spare rechargeable batteries for your cordless drill.
● Actual results may vary based on your available space. Adjust as necessary. 4

FINISHING TIPS

● Use scrap 4x4 P.T. post material to cut custom shims for levelling the bar.
● Fabricate first, then sand/stain while assembled in place (except for bar top and counter).
● Apply stain and clear coat to bar top and counter indoors in temp controlled area that is
ventilated. Humidity will affect curing of polyurethane.
● Allow wood to dry before sanding/staining.
● Do not bother sanding unfinished side of outer sheathing if only 1 side is finished (time
consuming).
● Apply 1-2 coats of stains (as desired).
● Apply 5 coats of clear finish to bar tops and counter.
