Article on drugs - A social evil

Drugs are substances that change a person's mental or physical state. They can
affect the way your brain works, how you feel and behave, your understanding and
your senses. This makes them unpredictable and dangerous, especially for young
people. The effects of drugs are different for each person and drug. It’s a common
belief that drugs are synonymous to Medicines but they are quite different because
drugs take away control of your body & mind from YOU. Medicines reverse this and
restore the control back to YOU.
Drugs are the leading cause of accidental deaths in the world. Death rates due to
drugs are increased by 15% from 2021. Millions of people are addicted to drugs not
knowing that it could harm them. Increased strain on the liver, which puts the
person at risk of significant liver damage or liver failure. Seizures, stroke,
mental confusion and brain damage. Lung disease. Problems with memory, attention
and decision-making, which make daily living more difficult.
Mostly the drug addiction is in teenage because of Low grades or failure in school,
Victim of bullying or cyberbullying, Low self esteem, Permissive parenting, Parent
or older sibling drug/alcohol use, Living in a community with a high tolerance for
smoking, drinking, or drug use among youth and Belief that there is little risk in
using a drug but they can solve them by their will power and it includes:
• avoiding places where you know drugs and alcohol will be available.
• surrounding yourself with friends who don't use drugs.
• knowing how to resist temptation.
• learning how to cope with stress and relax without drugs.
• distracting yourself with activities like exercise, sports, listening
to musics and reading.
