CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1GENERAL
The basics needs of human existences are food ,clothing’s & shelter.From times immemorialman has
been making efforts in improving their standards of living.the point of this efforts has been to provide
an economicand efficient shelter. The possession beside being a basic , used ,gives a feeling of security,
responsibility and shown the social status of man.every human being has an inherent liking for a
peaceful environment need for a present living, this object is achieved by having a place of living
situated at the safe and convenient location ,such as place for comfortable and pleasant living requires
considered and kept in view.
• A peacefull environment
• Safety from all natural sources and climate condition
• General specilities for community of the residential area

2.1.CLASSIFICATION OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING


1.Single- Detached House
A mobile home fixed permanently to a foundation has no dwellings either above it or below it.
2.Semi-Detached House
It has no dwellimgs either above it or below it, and the two units together have open space on all sides.
3.Row House
Town houses attached to a high rise building are also classified as row houses.
4.Apartment Or Flat In A Duplex
One of the dwellings, located one above the other,may or may not be attached to dwellings.
5.Appartment in a building that has five or more storeys.
6.Appartment in a building that has fewer than five storeys
7.Other single – attached house
A single dwelling that is attached to another building and that does not fallinto any of the other
categories.
1.3. IMPORTANCE AND NEED
The residential building is the first unit of the society and it is the primary unit of human habitation
.The residential building is to grant the protection against wind weathers ,and to give insurance against
physical insecurities of all kinds. The special features for needs of the residential building depends on
following factors such as availability of cheap houses, availability of cheap finance ,skilled labours,
transport facility.the residential buildings include any building in which sleeping accommodation provide
for normal residential purpose with or without cooking and dining facilities. It includes single or multi
family dwellings ,apartment houses,lodging or rooming houses ,restaurants, hostels, dormitories and
residential hostels.
