Ireland

Ireland is an island located at the North West of Europe just in front of England
on the Atlantic Ocean. It has no limits because it is an island.
The flag of Ireland has three colors: orange, white and green and the currency is
the euro.
It’s population of approximately 6.4 million. They talk two principal languages:
Irish and English.
Ireland is a democratic republic based on a constitution, an elected President
called Michael D. Higgins and a Prime Minister (Enda Kenny)
Ireland has principal cities like: Dublin (the Capital), Galway (the third largest city)
and Cork (the capital of the culture).
The important places of these cities are: In Dublin: Trinity College, Custom House,
Dublin Castle and Convention Centre Dublin. In Galway: Galway museum,
Courthouse and Shop Street. In Cork: St Patrick's business Street, Saint Mary's
Cathedral and Cork Opera House.
In Ireland there are three religions, these are Catholicism, Islam and
Protestantism. The religion that predominates is the Catholicism.

The principal festivals and celebrations are:


- SAINT PATRICKS FESTIVAL (in March, It commemorates, the most popular
Saint of Ireland),
- CORK JAZZ FESTIVAL (It represents one of the best jazz festivals in Europe.
It’s in October),
- IRISH INDEPENDENCE DAY (It celebrates the independence of Ireland. It’s in
April)
-SUMMER’S DAY (The people recibe the summer with dances and songs). It’s in
August.

The typical and traditional food of Ireland is:


- STEW (It’s a stew of carrots, potatoes and meat)
- TRIPE AND DRIVEEN (It’s a soup based on tripe, milk and bacon).
- BEEF WITH POTATOES (It’s made of potatoes and meat)
-CODDLE (It’s a soup made of carrots, onions, bacon, pork and potatoes)
