Welcome families and students to an overview of our year!
My Philosophy
Learning math can be difficult and stressful, but it does not have to be. My role as your students' teacher
is to help them explore new mathematical concepts through collaboration and practice. My goal is not to
prioritize perfection rather, it is to prompt a growth mindset and develop critical thinking skills. As we
navigate learning math, class discussions, independent work, and activities will guide our learning. Along
with that, mistakes are embraced, and all questions are good questions. During the year, students will
learn how to develop confidence in problem-solving, enhance their communication skills, and become
creative in how they tackle new things in their lives. Each day students start on a clean slate!
Communication
Missing Work: Students are responsible for knowing when they have missing work. A zero will be entered
into the grade book if a student does not turn in their assignments by the time the assignments are
graded. If a student misses a test or quiz, they have the option of taking it the next available day in class or
scheduling a time before/after school to make it up.
Late Work: I will accept late work up until the end of the unit. Once the unit is over, I will no longer accept
work from that unit. I understand things come up, however, students need to communicate with me if they
need more time on assignments.
Homework: Homework is assigned at the end of each section of the unit. It is expected that students
complete their homework before the next class period, unless a different due date is specified. During
class, we will spend time reviewing the homework. Every homework assignment is a review of what was
discussed in class and offers students the opportunity to practice. It can take multiple forms including a
written worksheet, creating a model, an online interactive assignment, etc.

Overview of Content
Geometry:
This course is the second year of a standards-based mathematics curriculum emphasizing real-life
problems related to student’s lives and their career interests and applications. Students will examine
rigid transformations, prove geometric theorems, similar and congruent figures, parallel and
perpendicular lines with transversals, intro to trigonometry, and properties of circles. Students will use
the standards for mathematical practice to engage with the subject matter. In addition, content will be
presented in multiple forms, including but not limited to real life models, visual representation, written
format, diagrams, and interactive activities.

This course is the third year of an integrated study of mathematics. Explores how to model and solve
real-life situations that reflect all students, dealing with such topics as probability, statistics, algebraic
functions, geometry, and an introduction to trigonometry. Students will use the standards for
mathematical practice to engage with the subject matter. In addition, content will be presented in
multiple forms, including but not limited to real life models, visual representation, written format,
diagrams, and interactive activities.
