1. Introduction
ELWMCH is a software designed for the control of liquid chillers.
The main functions of the control are:
• Compressor control, control of condenser fan, control of the pump in normal mode and in
antifreeze mode, control of the antifreeze heating resistance and of the Hot Gas Bypass.
• Temperature regulation on absolute or differential (in tracking mode) set point.
• Fan speed regulation on pressure (absolute and dynamic) / temperature.
• The possibility to put the unit in cooling mode.
• The pre-heating resistance control.
• Starting functions at low temperatures.
• Alarms management.
• Manual control of the components.
• Modbus serial connection.
2. User interface
2.1. Keys description
There are 4 keys on the front of the instrument. Each key provides:
• A ‘direct’ action (indicated on the key itself);
• An ‘associated’ function (indicated on the front of the instrument, at the corresponding key);
• A ‘combined’ action of two keys.
• It raises a value

On hold red A user must activate but there are waiting times
Heating green
The display visualized the set size/resource for the main visualization. In case of alarm, it will
alternate to the alarm code Exx (in case of more alarms, the code with lower index, see chapter
“4. Alarms”).
• The alarm icon lights up in case of any active alarm.
• The cooling icon indicates that the compressor is active.
• The heating icon indicates that the electrical resistance is active.
• Flashing StandBy icon indicates that the control is switched off from digital contact; if the icon
is fixed, it’s switched off from the keyboard.
• The ‘on hold’ icon switches on at minimum waiting time, it’s used to understand the status of
the compressor

3. States
Below the possible states of the system are described.
3.2. System ON
To enter in ON state, it’s necessary to keep pressed for 3 seconds the “set” key from the OFF
state. Also the digital input for StandBy must be OFF.
In this state all the control work normally, except the antifreeze.
The alarms are active.
4. Alarms
Find below the list of possible alarms:

Flow alarm
If the pump is ON and the digital input FF is ON, FF alarm triggers if remains for AFFD time (Flow
alarm delay time) that stops the compressor immediately and the pump after AFPD (Delay time
of pump switching off from flow alarm). If the alarm triggers 4 times in less than 3 hours, the
alarm becomes with manual reset, Otherwise it remains with automatic reset.
For the automatic reset, the control tries to restart the pump after AFID (Reset time of flow alarm
in automatic mode) from the switching off of the pump. At the start, the flow alarm is hidden for
AFDS time (Flow alarm delay time from start).
Antifreeze alarm
If the compressor is ON and the antifreeze temperature goes below AAFS value (Setpoint
Antifreeze alarm), the antifreeze alarm triggers that stops the compressor. The alarm remains
until the antifreeze temperature doesn’t go above AAFS + AAFH (Antifreeze alarm hysteresis).
The alarm has manual reset (press ESC for 3 seconds).
If the compressor is ON and the regulation temperature increases above the value AHtS, high
temperature alarm is triggered. The alarm remains until the regulation temperature goes below
AHtS – AHtH. The triggering of the alarm can be delayed from the commissioning of the system
of AHtd minutes. The alarm is automatically reset. In case of active heating mode the parameters
are dedicated (AHrH. ArHd, ArHH).
If the compressor is ON and the regulation temperature goes below the value ALtS, low
temperature alarm is triggered. The alarm remains until the regulation temperature goes above
ALtS + ALtH. The triggering of the alarm can be delayed from the commissioning of the system
of ALtd minutes. The alarm is automatically reset. In case of active heating mode the parameters
are dedicated (AHrL. ArLd, ArLH).
If AHrt > 0, when the supply temperature > ambient temperature + AHrt differential high
temperature alarm triggers. It’s inhibited for Hrtd minutes from unit starts. The alarm goes off
when the supply temperature returns < ambient temperature + AHrt – HrtH.
Se ALrt < 0, when the supply temperature < ambient temperature + ALrt differential low
temperature alarm triggers. It’s inhibited for Lrtd minutes from unit starts. The alarm goes off
when the supply temperature returns > ambient temperature + ALrt + LrtH.
If we are in System ON and the regulation temperature goes below the value ALSC, the low
temperature alarm of the secondary circuit triggers. The alarm remains until the regulation
temperature doesn’t go above ALSC + LSCH. Alarm intervention can be delayed from power ON
of the system of LSCd minutes. The alarm is automatically reset.
If HrSC > 0, when secondary circuit temperature > ambient temperature + HrSC, the alarm of high
differential temperature of the secondary circuit triggers. It’s inhibited for HrSd minutes from unit
starts. The alarm goes off when secondary circuit temperature returns < ambient temperature +
HrSC – HrSH.
Se LrSC < 0, when secondary circuit temperature < ambient temperature + LrSC, the alarm of low
differential temperature of the secondary circuit triggers. It’s inhibited for LrSd minutes from unit
starts. The alarm goes off when secondary circuit temperature returns > ambient temperature +
LrSC + LrSH.
Expansion alarm
If a function is parametrically active on the expansion and the communication between control
and expansion fails, the Expansion alarm is displayed. All the inputs of the expansion are not
considered.
5. Setup
Find below the list of parameters at user level.
SET menu
To enter in the quick menu SEt, click SEt key. Then with the arrows it’s possible to scroll through
the sub-menus and select by pressing the SEt key. The parameters that represent the state of
inputs / outputs are only read.

Before entering in the menu to modify the parameters, it’s necessary to enter the password for
parameter level access. The possible levels are 3: 0, 1, 2. The password for level 2 is 19, while the
password for level 1 is 13. The level 0 is the user level and there isn’t a password to access it. To
enter the password, go in Programming menu, go to PASS menu, enter the password, then exit
and go to parameters menu PAR. To enter in Par menu, press SEt and then scroll the menus and
