Dear Admission Officers,

My name is Chien-Tai, Hsu, English name is Diana. I am twenty-four years old and studying
master’s degree in the Library and Information Science Department at Fu Jen Catholic
University. I intend to spend one semester abroad from September 6, 2023, to March 31,
2024, at the University of Marburg. Above this, my purpose is to apply for a German Student
Visa.

There are various reasons to choose Germany to participate in the exchange students’
program. First, I want to further get in touch with German literature appreciation and
different cultures to broaden my cross-cultural international vision. My major in German
Studies and of the Arts, German Language literature will assist in gaining an understanding
of the differences between local culture and Taiwan. Because of my current job, I hope to
realize the educational culture and literature masterpieces to perceive the differences
between the educational systems of Taiwan and Germany and appreciate foreign literary
works and others by my decided major. At every opportunity, it is charitable to reinforce the
advantages of learning professional subjects in a diversified foreign education environment
that can develop your future career. Moreover, my motivation for learning German was
inspired by the past of traveling in Switzerland, and I regard German as functional in many
European countries. By participating in the exchange program, my goal is to improve my
German communication skills and acquire my ideal level of German certification to A2 or B1
to function on the occasion both academically and generally.

The University of Marburg is a historical school in the State of Hessen. Therefore, its
department, German Studies and of the Arts, German Language literature has a well-known
reputation for engagement in theory and practice with the subject-related and teaching-
related principles. I hope in the future when at the University of Marburg, it is expecting to
attain more practical knowledge of technical methodology to plan or design the project in
the educational process. Furthermore, it will also harvest more experiences to discuss with
each other to enhance the spirit of cooperation. German educational system emphasizes
self-management, respect, and inspiration of possessing ability. On the other hand, German
is a well-developed country with many opportunities in the education industry, and its
sceneries, including museums and churches, are spectacular to explore and visit. In
summary, I am looking forward to my semester in Germany and I hope that I will have the
opportunity to develop further in Germany. For any questions, I am always here to answer
your questions.

Best regards,
Chien-Tai, Hsu (Diana)
