1. Always ensure you know where the First Aid is kept (Ask the workforce if they know
this)
2. Know who the First Aiders and appointed persons are and have their contact details
(Ask the workforce if they know this)
3. You must have a small First Aid Kit if you are working in a small group away from the
main site and/or when you are using dangerous tools or machinery
4. Know where the phone/contact point is and ensure you understand the procedure for
call the emergency services (Ask the workforce if they know this)

Basic First Aid may save a life: Direct Questions to the workforce:
If they do not, you need to enquire about getting First Aid training!
Other considerations:
1. First Aid cover must include all shifts and holiday cover
2. Someone must have responsibility for restocking and checking the First Aid supplies
3. The First Aid supplies provided must be appropriate for the nature of the work and
the number of employees
4. First Aiders should be easy to identify – sticker on the helmet (check if this is the
case)
Now inform the workforce on the company provision for first aiders and first aid
kits, actions to be taken in the event of an emergency and the emergency contact
numbers
Now ask the workforce if they have any questions for you regarding the TBT and
ask a few questions to them to ensure they have understood it.
Answer: The priorities of First Aid are to save life, prevent the casualty’s condition from
getting worse and to evacuate to medical help as soon as possible
