The Lions' class students explored their knowledge in everything we have been learning with a fun review
week. In Language Arts, we reviewed short and long “a” sounds, blending our “ap”, “am” and “at” words and
all the high frequency words we have learnt. During our Maths classes, we reviewed counting and comparing
sets to 9 and 10 and introduced 3D shapes . In our Arts and Crafts session, we used our knowledge about
“near and far” to create pictures demonstrating how things near and far look bigger or smaller. In Science, we
reviewed the day and night sky and how gravity works. In our Physical Education sessions, we played fun
games focused on growing our fundamental motor skills and physical fitness. In Story-time we practised
reading by ourselves using our knowledge about blending words together.
Class achievements
Lion 2 have truly mastered blending their “at”, “am” and “ap” words. We are so proud of all their practice and
hard work with at home reading. We have witnessed great changes in their abilities. They have also started to
grasp the concept of gravity and how it works and why certain things look smaller from far away even when
they are in fact much much bigger. We are so proud of you Lions!
Class Values
In our kindergarten class, we emphasise two essential values each month, and this month, our focus is on
resilience and empathy. Resilience is about teaching our young learners to face challenges with determination
and learn from setbacks, instilling in them the belief that growth often comes from overcoming difficulties.
Simultaneously, we nurture empathy, encouraging students to understand and share the feelings of others,
fostering a caring and inclusive classroom environment where kindness and consideration are paramount.
These values, resilience and empathy, serve as guiding principles that not only enrich our daily interactions but
also help our students grow into compassionate and adaptable individuals.
Practise at home
To practise effectively at home, engage your child in a variety of interactive and enjoyable activities. In
Language Arts, encourage them to read and focus on distinguishing between long and short "a" sounds,
practice blending CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words, play word games, and create sentences using
high-frequency words. In Math, use everyday objects for counting exercises and explore the world of 3D
shapes in your immediate environment. For Science, engage in discussions or show-and-tell activities related
to what is observed in the day and night sky. Regular reading practice is key, further strengthening their
language skills and comprehension. These activities will provide a well-rounded and engaging learning
experience at home.
As always, we are so excited to start a new week with you Lion 2 class, see you on Monday 🎉
