BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

ENGGMATH 4: INTEGRAL CALCULUS

1 Name of Course Integral Calculus

2 Course Number ENGGMATH 4
3 Semester and Year Short Term, 1st Year
Offered
4 Credit Units 4 Units
5 Contact Hours 72 hours
6 Pre-requisites (if any) ENGGMATH 2
7 Co-requisites (if any)
8 Course Description This course introduces the concept of integration and its application to some physical problems
such as evaluation of areas, volumes of revolution, force and work. The fundamental formulas
and various techniques of integration are taken up and applied to both single variable and
multi-variable functions. This course also includes tracing of functions of two variables for a
better appreciation of the interpretation of the double and triple integral as volume of a three-
dimensional region bounded by two or more surfaces.
9 Program Learning Upon the completion of the program, the Louisian electronics engineering graduate shall
Outcomes be able to:

a. apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, and engineering fundamentals to

the solution of complex engineering problems;
b. communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering
community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write
effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give
and receive clear instructions;
c. create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern
engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex
engineering problems with an understanding of the limitations;
d. use concepts from an engineering specialization in solving complex Electronics
Engineering problems.
