Based on the orientation, I’ve learned about the importance of gender and development

and child protection policy, which were discussed by Ma’am Maria Antonette Petilona. It gives a
lot of insightful and informative ideas to the listeners, especially to us as future educators.
Gender and Development seeks to equalize the status and condition of women and men and the
relations between them by influencing the process and output of policy-making. There are certain
issues with the idea that focusing on the needs of women is discriminating against men or putting
them at a disadvantage, but that’s not true. Having gender and development means giving more
opportunities to those who have less and those who are historically and socially disadvantaged
based on their needs to operate on their own.
