Activity: Introduction to Socialization

1.What had happened to Danielle?

Danielle was only a kid when she got abandoned, growing up by herself all
alone. In an old run-down house without any human interaction, there lay a
lonely little girl by herself on a torn, moldy mattress in nothing but a swollen
diaper her hair and body were far from clean you can see ribs, and her
collarbone is jutted out. She was covered in filth, her body was full of insect
bites and rashes. You can already guess that she hasn’t taken a bath for a
long time.

When the detective brought her to the hospital, the doctors clearly stated
that although she was severely malnourished, Danielle was able to see, hear
and talk normally. Still, she would not look anyone in the eye, she won’t
speak, and she doesn’t even know how to swallow or chew her food. This
clearly showed that she might be okay physically but she is not mentally and
spiritually. Socialization is indispensable mostly to kids like Danielle because
everyone needs someone who they can rely on. They need someone who
can teach them how to communicate, talk, walk, and how to survive in this
cruel world.

2. Justify the conclusion stating that “From a sociological point of

view, Danielle had not had been socialized”.

The story of Danielle is all about socialization but the protagonist doesn’t
socialize simply because the story is about a child who in the first place
was abandoned in an old run-down house all by herself without anyone to
relay on, a girl who doesn’t know anything barely surviving at all. She
doesn’t even know the simplest way of living like speaking, eating, or
walking. The story of Danielle is basically an example of a person who
doesn’t communicate or socialize with others.

3. How can socialization make a difference in one’s life?
