Metabolic function : )1
carbohydrate metabolism:
The liver is essential for maintaining a normal blood glucose level when glucose increases
in the blood the liver storing the excessive glucose as glycogen ( Glycogenesis ) and release
it when body need it
(Gluconeogenesis)

: fat metabolism
oxidation fatty acid and. formations lipoproteins, cholesterol, phospholipids

: Protein metabolism
)synthesis several proteins as plasma protein except gamma globulin), albumin

.Production of the Bile (2

which stored in gallbladder and help to digest fat in small intestine

: Detoxification)3
liver is responsible for detoxifying the body by removing harmful Toxins, Drugs and other
substances from blood stream and converts these substances into less toxic compounds
that can be excreted

: Production blood clotting factors)4

liver produces several blood clotting factors as Fibinogen,Prothrombin these factors help
to control bleeding

: Immune function)5
liver plays an important role in the body's immune system by removing bacteria, viruses and
other harmful substances from blood

: Storing vitamins and minerals )6

liver storing several vitamins and minerals including vit A /vit D/vit B12/Iron the nutrients
released into blood as needed
