EFN 4301: Classroom Testing and Measurement
Group Assignment: 100 marks (weighted to 20%)
Date of Submission: 7th August 2023
For this assignment, you are required to construct a test comprising both objective and essay
items, administer it, conduct an item analysis using the responses to the test’s items and analyze
student overall performance on the test. The specific tasks related to the assignment are listed
below.

For a selected subject area at a particular grade, complete the following tasks:

(a) Construct a test that consists of twenty-five (25) objective items in Section A and five (5)
essay items in Section B.
 The items must conform to the item writing guidelines.
 The objective items must be spread across the various types of selected-response items
and the first three levels of Bloom’s taxonomy.
(b) Accompanying the test must be the separate Tables of Specifications (TOS) for Sections A
and B and the specific objectives which form the foundation for the construction of the
items.
 The cognitive requirements on the TOS must comprise at least the first three levels of
Bloom’s taxonomy.
 Also, there must be at least one question for each of the higher levels (analysis,
synthesis, and evaluation) in Section A.

 For Section B, the marks for the three cognitive profiles must be in the ratio .
 Further, for EACH objective item, its key and the cognitive level or profile, and the
specific objective it is testing must be stated.
 For the essay items, the key and marking scheme for each item must be presented. On
the markscheme, the marks awarded must be placed under the respective cognitive
level or profile and the specific objective (s) the question is testing must be stated.

(c) Administer the test. Collate the results. Using the data obtained:
 conduct a detailed item analysis (facility and discrimination indices) and
 calculate an estimate of the reliability of the objective test in Section A. Any suitable
reliability coefficient can be utilized.
(d) Compile a detailed report encompassing the data collected and the results of the calculations.
This report should be sectionalized as follows:
 Report on the test – this will include an interpretation of the item analysis and the
reliability and validity of the test and an explanation of corrective measures to be taken
on a sample of items with undesirable statistics for future use.
 Report on student performance – this is a detailed report on student overall
performance on the test. You must make use of statistical illustrations in presenting the
results of your analysis.
N.B Please follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition referencing
format; use Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double-spaced lines.

You have the option to administer the test, if possible, otherwise, the administration of
the test can be a simulated activity.
