IV. Procedure
A. Motivation

Teacher’s Activity
Good morning class!
Are you excited to learn and enjoy today?
(showing the cut out triangle.)
So, I have here a shape do you know what it
is?

You’re right! It’s triangle. So today, we’re

going to have a short game.

Let’s start! The instruction is, I’m going to

say some definitions of a triangle and If you
think it is true you will stand and if its false,
you will remain seated. I’m going to give 30
seconds for you guys to decide. Is it clear?

Okay! The triangle has three sides.

(Will set the timer for thirty seconds)

Number 2, A triangle is a closed 2

dimensional shape with 3 sides, 3 angles,
and 3 vertices.
Next, The triangle has an area and formula
to solve.

Number 4, The three sides of a triangle are

connected with each other end to end at a
point.
And lastly, There are three special names
given to triangles that tell how many sides
are equal.

Okay, that’s all! The definitions that I’ve said

are all true. Some of you are undecided
whether it’s rue or false. To expound more
about triangle, We can now proceed to our
discussion. Did you enjoy the game?

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activitiy

Good morning class!

Good morning ma’am!
Are you excited to learn and enjoy today?

(showing the cut out triangle.) Yes ma’am!

So, I have here a shape do you know what it is?

You’re right! It’s triangle. So today, we’re going to

have a short game.
Yes teacher! It’s a triangle.
Let’s start! The instruction is, I’m going to say some
definitions of a triangle and If you think it is true you

it clear?

Yes ma’am !
Okay! The triangle has three sides.
(Will set the timer for thirty seconds) (They will decide if they will stand
or will be remain seated.)

B. Discussion
So, our lesson for today is about the triangle
and it’s formula. A triangle is a closed two
dimensional shape with three sides, two angles and
3 vertices. Yes ma’am!

Yes! A triangle is a polygon with three sides having

three vertices. The angle formed inside the triangle
is equal to 180°. It means that the sum of the
interior angles of a triangle is equal to 180°. Teacher, is it a polygon?
It comes from the Latin word triangulus means,
“three-cornered” or “having three angles,” from the
root words tri-, “three” and angulus- “angles or
corner”.

Yes! The triangle has three special names, the first

one is the Equilateral triangle.
It is a triangle with three equal sides. Because all Teacher in our game earlier you
three sides are equal, this triangle will also have said that triangle has three special
three equal angles. Each angle of the equilateral names, what are those?
triangle will always equal 60 degrees. This is
because triangles' angles always add up to 180
degrees. Thus, if all three angles are equal, we can
divide that 180 by 3 to get 60 degrees for each
angle. If you see a triangle with all equal sides and
equal angles, then you are looking at an equilateral
triangle.

The second is an isosceles triangle. This type of

triangle has two equal sides. Because this triangle
has two equal sides, it will also have two equal
angles. The two equal angles are the angles
opposite the two equal sides. In this type of triangle,
unlike the equilateral triangle, the two equal angles
do not have to be a certain degree. They can be
any measurement under 90 degrees.

And the third is a scalene

triangle. A scalene triangle’s a triangle with no equal
sides. Because there are no equal sides, this
triangle will also have no equal angles. This means
that all the sides are different lengths and all the
angles are different measurements.

Do you know understand what is triangle and it’s

different types?

Let’s now move to the formula solving the area of a

triangle.

The area of a triangle is defined as the total region

that is enclosed by the three sides of any particular
triangle. Basically, it is equal to half of the base
times height, i.e. A = ½ × b × h. Hence, to find the
area of a tri-sided polygon, we have to know the
base (b) and height (h) of it. It is applicable to all
types of triangles, whether it is scalene, isosceles
or equilateral. To be noted, the base and height of
the triangle are perpendicular to each other. The
unit of area is measured in square units (m2, cm2).
Yes teacher!

(Teacher will give an example on board )

What is the area of a triangle with base b = 3 cm

and height h = 4 cm?

Using the formula,

Area of a Triangle, A = 1/2 × b × h

= 1/2 × 4 (cm) × 3 (cm)

= 2 (cm) × 3 (cm)

= 6 cm

Understand, children??
Yes ma’am!

C.Generalization

Area of a triangle is the region enclosed by it, in a

two-dimensional plane. As we know, a triangle is a
closed shape that has three sides and three
vertices. Thus, the area of a triangle is the total
space occupied within the three sides of a triangle.
The general formula to find the area of the triangle
is given by half of the product of its base and
height.

Again, what is the formula for the area of triangle?

Half of the product of its base and

height.
Very good!

D. Evaluation

You now know how to find the area of a

triangle, I have here a worksheet you can get one
and pass it at your back. Show your solutions, you
can use the back part of the paper. You have 15
minutes to do it.

If

you’re done, you can put your paper at the

teacher’s table and go silently.

Goodbye teacher! See you
