Michael Jackson

(August 29, 1958 to June 25, 2009)

Called Michael Joseph Jackson, he was born on August 29,


1958 in the city of Gary, Indiana, United States. He was the
eighth child of ten born to the Jackson Family, an African-
descended working-class family that lived in a two-bedroom
house on Jackson Street.
Her mother was, Katherine Esther Scruse, a devout
Jehovah's Witness, who played clarinet and piano. She once
aspired to be a country and western artist, but working part-
time at Sears didn't allow it and decided it was better to
support the family.
His father was, Joseph Walter Jackson (Joe), was a former
boxer, who was a steel worker in the U.S. Steel. Joe
performed as a guitarist in a local rhythm and blues band,
The Falcons, to supplement the family income.
Michael grew up with three sisters (Rebbie, La Toya and
Janet) and five brothers (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon
and Randy). A sixth brother, Marlon's twin, Brandon; He
died shortly after birth.
In 2003, Joe acknowledged that he routinely spanked him as
a child, and also said that he had verbally abused his son.
Jackson stated that in his childhood he was physically and
emotionally abused during incessant rehearsals, although he
credited his father's strict discipline as playing a major role
in his success.
He was nicknamed the ''King of Pop'', for his contributions
and recognition in the history of music and dance for more
than four decades, as well as his publicized personal life,
made him an international figure in popular culture. His
music includes a wide catalog of genres such as pop, rhythm
and blues (soul and funk), rock, disco and dance, and he is
recognized as the "most successful musical artist of all
time."
He began his artistic career in the mid-1960s in the musical
group The Jackson 5, in which he published, along with
some of his brothers, ten albums until 1975. In the early
1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music.
Throughout the 1990s and built a reputation as a solo artist
on several tours. Through his stage and video performances,
Jackson was the one who popularized a series of complex
dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to
which he gave his name. It was his distinctive sound and
style that have influenced numerous artists from various
musical genres. The album with which he was successful is
Thriller, which is the best-selling album of all time, with
estimated sales of 65 million copies worldwide.
Jackson was one of the few artists to have been inducted into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, and was also inducted
into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Dance Hall of
Fame as the only dancer of pop and rock music. Jackson was
the winner of 13 Guinness World Records, the Grammy
Legend Award, the award. Grammy for artistic career, 26
American Music awards, among others.
Aspects of Jackson's personal life, such as his changing
appearance, personal relationships, and behavior, generated
controversy.
In 1993, he was accused of child sexual abuse, but the civil
case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount and
no formal charges were filed. In 2005, he was tried and
acquitted of new allegations of child sexual abuse and
several other charges after the jury found him not guilty on
all charges.
In May 1994, Jackson married singer-songwriter Lisa Marie
Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley. The couple had met in
1975, when Michael and his family lived at the MGM Grand
Hotel and Casino, where The Jackson Five performed
concerts, and at the beginning of 1993 they resumed their
relationship. Jackson and Presley married in the Dominican
Republic and kept it secret for two months. The couple
ended up divorcing twenty months later.
In November 1996, Jackson once again surprised public
opinion by marrying a nurse assistant to his regular
dermatologist, Debbie Rowe, whom he had known for the
previous decade. He met her when she was working as a
nurse in Dr. Arnold Klein's dermatology office, where
Jackson was receiving treatment for vitiligo.
Three months after the marriage, Rowe gave birth to their
son, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (February 1997), who was
later known as Prince. The following year she gave birth to a
daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson (April 1998).
Jackson took full responsibility for raising the children. The
couple divorced in 1999 and she awarded custody of both
children to the singer.
In 2002, Jackson's third child, Prince Michael Jackson II,
was born. According to the singer, the child was conceived
through artificial insemination, using his sperm and a
surrogate womb.
While preparing for his comeback concert series, This Is It,
Jackson died from acute propofol and benzodiazepine
poisoning on June 25, 2009, after suffering cardiac arrest.
His death was ruled a homicide, and his personal physician,
Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary
manslaughter.
