22-23 Pass Fail Option
22-23 Pass Fail Option
1. Students may elect to take 2 semester courses or | full year course on a Pass/Fail basis each
school year. If a student elects a full year course, no other course may be taken Pass/Fail. In
order for students to receive a Pass/Fail, they must meet with their counselor to discuss the
pros and cons of their decision.
. Students who are considering Pass/Fail should request from their teacher the grades they
have received to date in the course. Students can then make a decision based on an accurate
assessment of their standing in the course. This request should be made at least one week
before the deadline. The teacher will grade and return all the tests to the student by the day
before the deadline.
. Student and parent must sign and return the completed form to their school counselor by the
following dates: NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DATES LISTED BELOW.
Once the Pass/Fail option has been elected, students MAY NOT request a change back to a
traditional letter grade.
. Students may not take part of a course on a Pass/Fail basis and the remainder receiving
letter grades.
A student who elects Pass/Fail for Health/Driver’s Ed may also elect Pass/Fail for Physical
Education. If this is done, Pass/Fail is elected for all three (3) quarters of Physical Education.
This form must be submitted during the FIRST quarter of either Physical Education or
Health/Driver’s Ed.
Grades of “P” will not be included for computation of class rank. Grades of “F” will, however,
be included.
. Teachers will grade Pass/Fail students in the same manner as all other students but will
issue only a Pass/Fail on that student’s report card.
