Reflection for English 2100 November 15th, 2023

When I first signed up for ENGL 2100 it was because I needed it as a credit for one of my
last courses. Then I realized how much this course would help me with my current job. I work
with Professors and highly educated individuals, and I wanted to sound professional as possible
when writing emails, creating documents, memos, writing minutes, etc. It was important for me
to learn from this course and take all the knowledge I could and apply it into my everyday life
and that’s exactly what it did for me.
I’ve felt more confident in my work and have a better understanding when I’m writing to
a fellow colleague of mine or one of my professors that I work with. I had one of the colleagues
ask me where I’d learned to write up instructions and ask me if I could teach them what I know.
It was a compliment considering I’d only done a handful, but it was nice to know that my hard
work from this class was paying off.
I learned a lot from the different projects we had to do in this class. My first project I did
was on Cybersecurity Attacks on colleges and universities in the United States. While I was
disappointed there wasn’t a lot of information regarding this topic, I still learned a lot and I’m
glad that was the focus of my first project for this course. The second project was about the
status of Mental Health Care here in Washington State where I live. I had knowledge of this
prior to my second project, but I learned so much more than I possibly could have thought.
Everything I thought I knew wasn’t entirely accurate and I’m glad that these projects helped
open my eyes to the two different topics that I worked on.
I’ve really enjoyed this class and everything I’ve learned and been able to apply into my
everyday life. I look forward to continuing to learn more about technical writing and feel more
confident in my abilities when writing certain documents. It’s made me feel more confident and
prouder of the work I’m doing.
