1. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the proposed Curing compound products to be used for the Production Facility Project
for SINGER BANGLADESH LTD., located at Araihazar, Narayanganj, Bangladesh.

 Concure WB White
Wax based concrete curing compound
Uses
For spraying on freshly cast concrete, or newly exposed
concrete surfaces after removal of form work, to form a
temporary membrane which will retain sufficient moisture for
effective curing to take place. Used for concreting gener-
ally but especially useful for large areas of concrete such as
pavements, runways and bridge decks; also for vertical
or sloping surfaces as on towers, chimneys, canal linings,
columns and beams, where water curing is difficult or
unreliable.
Advantages
Single application : Forms moisture barrier for whole of the
curing period.
 No other curing necessary : Eliminates use of water, hessian
or sand completely.
 Reliable : No risk of erratic or poor curing and ensures that
cement hydrates efficiently.
 Ensures hard-wearing surface : Minimises risk of drying
shrinkage, cracks and dusty surfaces.
 Easy and safe spray application: Non-toxic and
nonflammable.
Standards compliance
Curing efficiency : Concure WB White curing compound
complies with the internationally recognised ASTM C309,
Type 2, Class A.
Description :
Concure WB Clear is a white colour, low viscosity milk emul-
sion which incorporates a special alkali reactive emulsion
breaking system. It is supplied as a white emulsion which
forms a white film on drying. This system ensures that the
emulsion breaks down to form a non penetrating continuous
film immediately upon contact with a cementitious surface. This
impervious film prevents excessive water evaporation which
in turn permits more efficient cement hydration, thus reducing
shrinkage and increasing durability.
Once formed, the membrane will remain on the concrete
surface until eventually broken down and eroded by natural
weathering. Where it is required to apply a further treatment
to such concrete surface, it may be necessary to remove the
membrane remaining after curing by wire brushing or other
mechanical means.

The use of curing membranes on internal floor slabs is
generally to be avoided where additional surface finishes are
to be applied. Concure WB White is however ideal where the
concrete surface of a floor slab is to be left as ‘finished’.

Coverage rate
The recommended coverage rate is between 3.5 and 5.0
sq.m / litre ( 0.200 to 0.285 litres/sq.m). Coverage rates out-
side this recommended range may be used if necessary and
suitable to meet specific requirements. Contact local Fosroc
office for advice in such cases.
Equipment
Spray equipment producing a fine mist may be used for
Concure WB White such as knapsack or motorised spray-
ers. The suitability of equipment should be ensured by an
application trial.
Application instructions
Application
Exposed concrete slabs : Concure WB White should be spray
applied on to the newly placed concrete slab as soon as possible
after it is free from visible surface water, e.g. typically 1 to 2
hours after placing.
Shuttered and precast concrete : Concure WB Clear curing
compound should be spray applied to all surfaces as soon as
formwork has been removed or the element demoulded.
Concure WB White

In all cases the nozzle of the spray should be held approximately
450mm from the concrete surface and should be passed back
and forth to ensure complete and even coverage. The pump
pressure should be maintained at a level to produce a fine spray
ensuring complete coverage of the surface.
Rate of application depends on requirements but is typically
within the range of 200 to 285 ml/m2.
Equipment
The preferred and generally used equipment is a knapsack
sprayer of the type commonly used in horticulture or pest
control. The ideal type is a knapsack sprayer with a capacity
of between 5 - 10 litres fitted with a 2.0m lance and adjustable
spray nozzle.
Equipment cleaning
Immediately after use the spray equipment should be cleaned
out thoroughly with fresh water. If the spray nozzle becomes
blocked with wax particles these can easily be removed using
white spirit or similar fluid.
Estimating
Packaging
Concure WB White is available in 5, 20 & 200 litre drums.
Storage
Concure WB White has a shelf life of 6 months when stored
at temperatures between 50C and 350C. Containers should
be kept airtight to prevent surface evaporation. Freezing or
prolonged exposure to direct heat or sunlight must be avoided.
Precautions
Health & Safety instructions
Concure WB White is non toxic. It is advisable to wear goggles
when spraying. Inhalation of the spray should similarly be
avoided. Should skin contact with the compound occur it shall
be washed with clean water and a skin conditioning cream shall
be applied. If Concure WB White comes into contact with
eyes it shall be washed with clean water. If irritation persists,
immediate medical attention shall be sought. If the compound
is swallowed, vomiting should not be induced but medical as-
sistance shall be obtained immediately.
Fire
Concure WB White is water based and non flammable.
Additional information
The Fosroc range of associated products includes high
strength cementitious, epoxy grout, polyester resin based
mortar for rapid presetting of steel shims to level or for di-
rect bedding of small base plates; Resin anchoring systems
for same day anchoring of bolts in drilled holes in con-
crete or rock. Also available a range of products for use in
construction; viz., admixtures, curing compounds, release
agents, flooring systems and repair mortars.

Specific Advice After application the coating are must be protected from rain for at least 2

▪ To prevent clogging, regular cleaning of jet sprays during application is
recommended.
▪ Sika® Antisol® A-4 can be sprayed using most common spraying equip-

▪ Early application of Sika® Antisol® A-4 will help prevent plastic shrinkage
cracks from occurring by reducing the amount of water evaporating. Con-
crete curing compounds, however, will not counter the effects of crack-
ing that may occur as a result of long term drying shrinkage. Standard
concrete practice must be applied when positioning construction joints
and shrinkage control joints.

MasterKure® 107
Water based concrete curing compound, white pigmented for solar reflectance
DESCRIPTION
MasterKure 107 incorporates a white pigment
which at recommended coverage rates gives a
daylight reflectance value of 60-80%. This permits
a high curing efficiency to be maintained even in
conditions of intense ambient light.
MasterKure 107 is a solvent free, membrane
forming wax emulsion, suitable for spray
application to freshly poured concrete.
The resultant film retains sufficient moisture in the
concrete to ensure full hydration of the cement;
essential for optimum strength development.
Membrane cured concrete is typically harder and
exhibits a dust free surface with a reduced
incidence of drying shrinkage cracks.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
The compound should be spray applied as evenly
as possible to the freshly placed concrete.
For horizontal surfaces the MasterKure 107
should be applied as soon as the initial surface
sheen has disappeared from the concrete face. In
the case of formed concrete, the MasterKure 107
should be applied immediately on removal of the
formwork. To assist breakdown of the
MasterKure 107 film on the vertical and formed
surfaces, it is essential to dampen down the
concrete with clean water prior to application.
COVERAGE
The recommended rate of application is 5-6
square metres per litre. This corresponds to that
which MasterKure 107 has been tested, and at
which it attains the claimed degree of curing

FILM BREAKDOWN
The time for deterioration of the membrane is
dependent on a number of variables, which
include film thickness, degree of exposure to
weathering, traffic, UV light, and the porosity of the
substrate concrete.
MasterKure® 107
SUBSEQUENT SURFACE FINISHES
It is important that the complete removal of the
MasterKure 107 should be ensured prior to the
application of any surface finish or additional
treatment. It is recommended that where the
concrete is to receive a coating or the application
of tiles, the use of MasterKure 181 is considered.
MasterKure 181 is a resin based non-degrading
curing membrane meeting the requirements of
ASTM C-309 Type 1 Class B. It is additionally
formulated to act as a primer for many finishes or
to seal concrete surfaces and provide a degree of
abrasion to flatwork.
STORAGE
Shelf life is 1 year when stored under cover, out of
direct sunlight and protected from extremes of
temperature.

MasterKure® 185
Acrylic polymer based, multi-role curing, sealing and protective membrane
DESCRIPTION
MasterKure 185 is a non-degrading, membrane-
forming liquid based on specially formulated acrylic
polymer for curing newly placed or freshly de-
shuttered concrete; assists in the retention of
water during hydration. The resultant film retains
sufficient moisture in the concrete to ensure full
hydration of the cement; essential for optimum
strength development. The cured concrete is
typically harder and exhibits a dust free surface
with a reduced incidence of drying shrinkage
cracks. Additionally, the membrane acts as a
primer system for many subsequent surface-
finishes that do not rely on penetration for
substrate bond. When applied to floors, the
MasterKure 185 seals and dustproof the surface,
eliminating the primary source of abrasion while
enhancing durability.
MasterKure 185 is available as a clear translucent
liquid and is also available as white solar reflective
version.
RECOMMENDED USES
MasterKure 185 is a more effective and
economical alternative to separate curing and
priming/sealing regimes and suitable for use on all
concrete surfaces.

COVERAGE
The recommended rate of application is 4-6
square metres per litre. This corresponds to that
at which MasterKure 185 has been tested, and at
which it attains the claimed degree of curing
efficiency. In favorable conditions such as shaded
interior surfaces, adequate curing can be achieved
with extended coverage rates.
When using MasterKure 185 for floor areas where
maximum chemical and wear resistance is
required, it is recommended that a further coat be
applied after 24 hours.
In place of the above recommendations, the rates
of cover stipulated in a specification should at all
times be observed.
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
NEWLY PLACED CONCRETE:
Surface must be sound and properly finished.
Surface is ready for application of MasterKure
185, when damp, but not wet, and it can no longer
be marred by foot traffic.
NEWLY CURED BARE CONCRETE:
Level any gouges. Remove all dirt, dust, oil,
grease, asphalt, and foreign matter. Clean with
caustics and detergents as required. Citrus
degreaser is excellent for removing oil stains and
many curing compounds. Rinse thoroughly and
allow drying. Apply MasterKure 185 to damp but
not wet surfaces.
AGED CONCRETE:
Restore surface to soundness by patching,
grouting, and filling cracks or holes. Surface must
also be free of any dust, dirt, and other foreign

matter. Use power tools or strippers to remove any
incompatible sealers or coatings. Clean as
required, following procedure under “Newly cured
bared concrete”.
Important Note: Apply MasterKure 185 after 24
hrs of curing of the cube to improve the
bonding on the substrate.
Application
Stir MasterKure 185 thoroughly before using.
Apply a continuous, uniform film by low-pressure
spray, short nap roller or brush.
Subsequent surface finishes
MasterKure 185 ensures that the bond is
maintained with adhesives used for installing tiles,
and other floor coverings. MasterKure 185 will act
as a primer for paint systems and will enable most
surface treatments to progress with minimal delay.
Typical surface treatments that will bond to
surfaces with MasterKure 185 are:
 Water based emulsion paints containing PVA,
PVC and acrylic co-polymers
 Thin section polymer modified cementitious
systems.

Cleaning
Use water to clean rollers and spray equipment
before MASTERKURE 185 dries. Any excess
cured material will have to be mechanically
removed.
SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION
The non-degrading membrane forming curing &
sealing compound shall be MasterKure 185,
acrylic polymer based formulation. The product
shall comply with ASTM C 309 Class B. The
product shall exhibit water loss not more than 0.55
kg/m2 in 72 hours when tested as per ASTM C156.
The product shall form non-degrading abrasion
resistance film which shall also exhibit capability
as primer for subsequent protective coatings or
bituminous overlays.
PACKAGING
MasterKure 185 is available in 5 & 20 litre packs.
STORAGE /SHELF LIFE
MasterKure 185 must be stored where
temperatures do not drop below +5°C. Store under
cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from
extremes of temperature.
Shelf life is 6 months when stored as above.

Do not reuse containers for storage of consumable
