Rumour spread quickly about the man lost in the forest. Never returned. The door stood
there, isolated from any living creature. Empty trees surrounded the quiet atmosphere. The
trees spoke their last words in agony, whilst the wind whispered past their long, fragile
arms. Brown, crunchy leaves overlapped each other, like the trees overlapping the wooden
door. Only one living creature sat on the door, innocently. The brown, old pigeon was like
the door’s only trustworthy friend.
Since hearing about the rumour, not a footstep touched or came into contact with the
territory. The unoccupied land waited patiently for its new customer.
Being the stubborn type, Samuel was eager to find his lost brother. His reluctant friends,
Mathew and Chris, ventured out with him to find his brother. Chills fell down their spines as
soon as they took a step into the mundane piece of land. Barely any sunlight hit the area.
Darkness filled the place entirely. The forest was conscious that there were people visiting.
Drawing themselves closer to the door, not even knowing it was there, the leaves creaked
loudly every step they took. The gust of wind howled at their faces every second they got
closer. Looking back at the vast land behind them which they had already passed, they
chose to keep going. Mathew’s face had turned pale by investigating his surroundings.
They finally stood in front of the wooden door, staring at the human handprints that were
stained on it by a red liquid for which looked like blood. Mathew’s eyes were wide open,
and his jaws dropped. Chris began getting goosebumps at the back of his neck and his teeth
began to move rapidly, and Samuel started to feel nauseous, and his legs shivered.
Silence was left in the area. Their faces were all pale as a black sheet of white paper. Samuel
slowly walked towards the wooden, isolated door, reluctant to open it. “What are you
doing?” Mathew asked.
“We are going through it whether you like it or not. We don’t have a choice,” Samuel replied
with a stammering voice. He could hear his heart rapidly racing, as his wide-open eyes
stared directly at the door. He inhaled and exhaled quickly, and his hair stood upwards like a
stick.
Samuel hovered his trembling hands over the rusty, brown door handle. He slowly twisted
the handle to the right and opened it. His eyes shut tightly, reluctant to open it. Samuel’s
eyes slowly lifted open, only to see himself staring at a white entrance. Chris slowly tried to
touch the abnormal, white entrance. His face was in distress. “What happened?” Samuel
asked, worried.
“Its... it’s a wall!” he replied, looking at the horror on Samuel’s face.
“We’re doomed!’ Samuel busted out, leaving all the hope of finding his brother behind him
now.
