"HOW GREAT THOU ART"
LYRICIST: STUART K. HINE COMPOSER: SWEDISH FOLK
SONG ADAPTED BY STUART K. HINE
ARR. DAN FORREST
PUBLISHER: BECKENHORST PRESS INC.

VOICING: SATB
ACCOMPANIMENT: Piano
KEY: Bb;Eb; C;Db
INFO

Voice Ranges:
Soprano: C4-Ab5
Alto: C4-D5
Tenor: D3-F4
Bass:Db4-A2

Overall message:
Tells of God's Greatness: who He is and what He's done therefore our right response is to sing praise to Him.
How does music communicate the message:
The music is meditative- just as how the lyrics are and then when singing of praise it is in awe and in grandeur.
Difficult parts of the piece:
The piece was long and during the concert it is the last song to be performed so the singers energy are depleted.
How were difficulties dealt with:
Throughout rehearsals the conductor builds stamina by keeping the singers "busy", to be mindful and to "use their
brains".

"NO NIGHT THERE"

LYRICIST: JOHN R CLEMENTS COMPOSER: H.P. DANKS
ARR. DAVID RASBACH
PUBLISHER: SOUNDFORTH

VOICING: SATB
ACCOMPANIMENT: Piano
KEY: Db
INFO

Voice Ranges:
Soprano: Db4-Gb5
Alto: Ab3-Db4
Tenor: Db3-F4
Bass: Gb2-Eb4

Overall message:
Looking forward to the promise of eternity with God.
How does music communicate the message:
The most prominent one was the unresolving M2, depicting the eternity where it doesn't end.
Difficult parts of the piece:
For the altos the last line Ab-Eb.
How were difficulties dealt with:
Ma'am Janine told us to think that we will resolve to Db it but we won't.
"O LIVING BREAD OF HEAVEN"
LYRICIST: JOHN RIST, TR, CATHERINE WINKWORTH, ALT; AND LLOYD
LARSON COMPOSER: LLOYD LARSON
PUBLISHER: BECKENHORST PRESS INC.

VOICING: SATB
ACCOMPANIMENT: Piano
KEY: F;f;Eb; F
INFO

Voice Ranges:
Soprano: B3-C5
Alto: B3-C5
Tenor: C3-D4
Bass: F2-D4

Overall message:
Tells of the greatest gift God has given us: the bread of Heaven (Jesus) who is the sacrifice that brought us eternal life.
Through Him we have satisfaction, something the world cannot give us and cannot take away from us.
How does music communicate the message:
The leaps seems like yearning for something. The 2nd stanza when it was minor it communicates the sacrifice of Jesus and
then in m.50 (abrupt key change to Eb) it was brighter that because of Jesus Christ we can come to the throne of God.
Difficult parts of the piece:
Personally, the breathing. It is hard for me to prolong the phrases.
How were difficulties dealt with:
The conductor used warm-ups that would aid in breath support and told us to use staggered breathing.

"REDEEMED, HOW I LOVE TO PROCLAIM IT"

LYRICIST: FANNY J. CROSBY COMPOSER: A.L.BUTLER
ARR. EDWIN T. CHILDS
PUBLISHER: BROADMAN PRESS

VOICING: SATB
ACCOMPANIMENT: Piano
KEY: F
INFO

Voice Ranges:
Soprano: C4-F5
Alto: A3-D5
Tenor: C3-G4
Bass:G2-D4

Overall message:
The joy of being redeemed by Jesus' blood and being a child of God. (even though our faces didn't show it)
How does music communicate the message:
The music was joyful and also the accompaniment.
Difficult parts of the piece:
It is mostly homophonic but there were places that were polyphonic or somehow like a fugue.
How were difficulties dealt with:
The conductor helped us by cues. Also she practiced where the voices will come in like 2-parts first before
the entire SATB choir.
O sing unto the Lord a new song:
sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
Sing unto the Lord, bless his name;
shew forth his salvation from day to
day.
Declare his glory among the
heathen, his wonders among all
people.
For the Lord is great, and greatly to
be praised: he is to be feared above
all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are
idols: but the Lord made the
heavens.
Honour and majesty are before him:
strength and beauty are in his
sanctuary.
