Windows 2019 Server Lab Activity #3

Name : ___________________________

Score: _________

Windows Server 2019 supports three levels of RAID. Today’s activity will test the performance
of these storage systems and allow some comparison of the various configurations.

Please create the disk systems as shown in the chart below and take some performance
measurements for each configuration. Note: When creating these volumes please use the
“Quick” format or you may be waiting longer than necessary. If you have some results that don’t
seem to be reasonable please repeat them to ensure accuracy. ** Use eSATA for best results!

(1 marks) Is RAID always faster than the performance of a simple disk?

(1 marks) Which is the fastest RAID configuration? Why?

(1 marks) Statistically, which configuration(s) would suffer the most drive failures?

(1 marks) Which configuration(s) would experience the most data failures?

(3 marks) Using 500GB drives that cost $100.00, please complete the chart below.
