Feedback unit FBP1 & FBP2

Installation manual

The Feedback can be mounted with a lever or it can be connected to the rudder stock
with a gearwheel and belt.

1. Mechanical installation with lever.

Set the rudder mechanical in center position. Install feedback

as shown in Figure 1. In order to achieve the best possible
rudder function, the feedback-arm to the lever angle must
obtain an angle of 90 deg. The lever to tiller angle must also
obtain an angle of 90 deg.

unit installation
with lever.

2. Installation with gearwheel and belt.

The feedback can be installed with belt (Figure 2).

The gear wheels must then fit to the gearing. That
means when rudder is turned from hard-over to
hard-over, the feedback must turn app. 35 deg. to
each side (from outer point to outer point).

3. Electrical connection of feedback.

Remove fuse on SSE-255 PCB before

ADJUSTMENT OF FEED BACK UNIT

Figure 3:
Top view.

Measure voltage between terminal F(+) and terminal G(-) on SSE

255 PCB, adjust the shaft mechanically with a Screwdriver to obtain
half voltage measured on terminal E.
Fasten top of feed-back to the shaft by tightening the 2 screws.

overview

Testing the feedback unit:

1) Turn steering gear to Starboard and check that voltage is increasing, when
measuring voltage between F(+) and G(-). Move Jumper (JMP) on SSE 255 if voltage
is decreasing.
2) Turn steering gear to 35 deg. Starboard, measure voltage between terminal F(+)
and G(-), the voltage should be approx 6,8V DC.
3) Turn steering gear to 35 deg. Port side, measure voltage between terminal F(+) and
G(-), the voltage should be approx 1.2V DC.

Electrical adjustment: (In most cases not necessary!)

The feedback unit is delivered factory pre-adjusted, but a small fine-adjustment might
be necessary to compensate cable length etc. This is done by adjusting the two
potentiometers GAIN & ZERO. (less gain will reduce Port side and Starboard as well).
