Overview

We are looking for a fulltime and a parttime postdocs. The role of this position – Data Scientist is to
lead the data analysis, statistical modelling, and data mining component of a funded project,
contributing to the development of an early warning system for more resilient communities. It is
expected that the appointee will engage and collaborate with other members of the research team.

Position Criteria for the Postdoc:

• A PhD and documented research experience in data science, data mining, statistics, or
related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills together with excellent writing and presentation
skills with demonstrated experience in writing high quality scientific papers and technical
reports.
• Proven experience in using statistical software or other programming languages such as R,
SPSS, SAS, MATLAB, Python or STATA in performing statistical and data mining procedures
commonly used in the analysis of data.
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a
diverse range of stakeholders and project partners.
• Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Attention to details and an ability to prioritise tasks and manage projects in a timely fashion.
