THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Cheating is an act of dishonesty or unfairly in order to obtain advantages and in terms of

academic; it is usually happened during examination. Cheating during examination refer to the type if
behavior that goes against the rules of an exam and gives a student unfair advantage over their peers.
Cheating not only undermines the value of the exam, but it also affects the integrity of the educational
system and Cheating can endanger academic careers and lead to various disciplinary actions.

Background of the Study

In the history, Scholars note that cheating was prevalent in Chinese civil service exams thousands years
ago but in 21st century it brought so much disturbance to others because Learners' uses cheating for
taking advantage to others just to get high marks. Due to our modernized technologies, cheating became
easier for students to do that led them to become lazier.

Students' tend to cheat in exams when they encountered some difficulties, did not study or maybe
because of peer pressure. According Donald McCabe, Professor and Associate Provost, Rutgers, The
State University of New Jersey, and Founder of The Center for Academic Integrity, "Students feel justified
in what they are doing. They are cheating because they see others cheating and they think they are
being unfairly disadvantaged. The only way many of them feel they can stay in the game, to get into the
right school, is to cheat as well."

Cheating is not only happens in undergraduate students but also in the secondary high school students
