Dear Reader,

Re: IRATA International statement re-European Committee for Rope Access (ECRA)

Following the inaugural meeting between IRATA and the European Committee for Rope
Access (ECRA) on 26 January 2015, in Berlin, Germany, IRATA has positively
collaborated with its counterparts in ECRA and found great benefit in doing so.

Member organisations of ECRA were invited to present at the annual IRATA Technical
event and conference (ITEC) held on 11 October in Munich, Germany, during which time
they presented facts about their organisation and clarified some misconceptions
regarding the ‘European Professional Certificate of Rope Access’ (EPCRA) project.
Following these presentations and a subsequent meeting with the members of ECRA, the
governing board of IRATA decided that, in the short term, IRATA would not be joining
ECRA. However, for the benefit of the rope access community and in the interest of
technician safety, it is the will of the governors of IRATA to continue to cooperate and
collaborate with the member organisations of ECRA. ECRA have invited IRATA to attend
their future meetings and IRATA have duly accepted this invitation.
