• It's a branch of Afroasiatic languages


spoken in North Africa.

• Actually a group of languages, but


it's not well defined how to
categorize them.

• Also known as Amazigh languages


or Tamazight, which can also mean a
subset of Berber Languages.

• Spoken by Berbers, an ethnic group


in North Africa.
POPULATION OF BERBER

• It's one of the official languages of


Morocco and Algeria, but it's spoken
in many more countries.

• About 0.7% of the population of


Catalonia speak Barber.

• It's also one of the most spoken


languages in France with 2.2 million
speakers.

• The exact numbers are unknown, but


around 25 million people in total
speak Berber.

• They live across Morocco, Algeria,


Libya, Tunisia and more.

• Their culture shares elements from


Africa, Europe and Middle East.

• They spread out from the west of

• It used to be seen as low prestige,


but this is improving especially since
it's an official language.

• It's mainly a spoken language.
