VLSI Architecture

We designed the Moore FSM for the mul�-cycle processor control unit in the class and implemented
it using PLA. We also learnt how to write the logic equa�ons for the control signal outputs and next
state outputs.

This set of logic equa�ons can be implemented using a truth table approach and the control unit can
be implemented using microprogramming.

(a) Write the truth table for both control signal outputs and next state func�on outputs.
(b) Implement the control unit using the Microprogrammed approach for all the three
instruc�on formats. Iden�fy the size, input word size, and outputs of the control memory,
state sequencer and the next state address logic.
