HRAM 660: Financial Analysis for Human Resource Professionals

Course Description
In line with the increasing financial impact of human capital initiatives on organizations' bottom line, this course focused on the financial analytics and
business competencies needed for HR Professionals to engage with the organization’s business partners at tactical and strategic levels. In the course,
students will focus on Human Resource activities, such as talent acquisition, compensation/pay equity, and benefit guidelines from a financial
perspective to support a business’s strategic plan. This course will increase professional growth as an HR Professional providing students with the
experience of using financial analytical techniques with real-world data. Students will analyze scenarios and develop financial projections for HR
initiatives that impact an organization's profitability. Examples of course topics include: Financial Statements, Financial Analytics, Financial
Projections, Excel as a Financial Analytical Tool, Financial Presentation Skills

Course Competencies
1. Assess their strength and weaknesses around financial analysis and develop a personal plan to develop the needed skills.
2. Examine and demonstrate the use of Excel to review, evaluate and analyze financial data to understand the underlying story the data portrays.
3. Recognize the use of financial analysis to evaluate the accomplishment of underlying HR and organizational values such as pay equity and
recruiting a diverse workforce.
4. Conduct financial analysis to propose a new initiative and evaluate financial statements, risk-benefit or CBA for a current operation.
5. Assess emerging trends in the global workplace and the financial impacts on organizational human resource initiatives.
6. Value the importance of ethical, intercultural and relationships between organizational departments.
