Question 1 (For even teams)

An incomplete distribution is given bellow:

Variable 10-20 20-30 30-40 40-50 50-60 60-70 70-80

Frequency 12 30 x 65 y 25 18

You are given that median is 46 and total number of item is 230
a) Find missing frequency
b) Calculate arithmetic mean and geometric mean of the completed
distribution
c) Calculate the standard deviation from the distribution
d) Find the Pearson’s coefficient of skewness

Question 2 (For odd teams)

The give distribution with missing frequencies

classes 10-15 15-20 20-25 25-30 30-35 35-40 40-45 45-50

Frequency 24 a 90 122 b 56 20 33

If the total frequency is 460 and the first quartile is 21.5, Find out:
a) The missing frequencies
b) Arithmetic mean and geometric mean
c) Calculate the standard deviation from the distribution
d) Find Pearson’s coefficient of skewness

classes 0-10 10-20 20-30 30-40 40-50 50-60 60-70

Frequency 4 16 k1 k2 k3 6 4

The given frequency is 230, median is 33.5 and mode is 34.

Find out:

a) Missing frequency

b) Standard deviation

c) Coefficient of variation

d) Interquartile range

Question 4 (For all teams)

One-day, teacher of Mathematics found out in environment materials to be used

while teaching his/her lesson and the lengths of some of materials were recorded.

The table below shows the cumulative distribution of lengths (in centimeters) of 400

materials collected by the teacher.

Lengths in cm 170  160  150  140  130  120  110  100 

Cumulative frequency 400 395 370 320 215 85 27 0

Help this teacher to:

a. Present his/her data using cumulative frequency curve

b. Find out an estimate of the median length

c. Determine the interquartile range

d. Determine the 10 to 90 percentile range

e. Calculate P4 , P9 , D3 and D7 ( Pk stands for percentile k and Dk stands for decile k)

f. Find out the standard deviation
