Statement of purpose

The longest power outages, especially on days with inclement weather and strong sunlight, are the most
frequent and terrifying in Bangladesh. As an electrical engineer who is aware of the effects of power
outages, I was puzzled as to why this happens given that we produce more electricity than we can need.
Contrarily, it is not frequent in developed countries. When I started working for a power distribution
company as an operation and maintenance engineer, I became aware that the problem was mostly caused
by a lengthy energy restoration time. In my country, operational staff still estimates the fault location
based on impedance from an ACR display to determine the fault current and type. I am quite worried
about my country because this method usually always produces an erroneous prediction of the precise
position. I'm aware that I need to learn more if I want to change anything in this area for my nation. Aaraf
is my name. I'm currently planning to apply to the MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
program at the YYY University in the USA.

I was a student from Bangladesh. My electrical and electronic engineering bachelor's degree was earned
at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), in Bangladesh. Throughout my
academic career, I have continuously attempted to expand my knowledge. I also enjoy undertaking
projects that will educate me. As a result, I took part in many training courses during my BSc and earned
certification, including the ROBORACE category certificate, the 1.5-month Coursera course
"International Leadership and Organizational Behavior," and the AUST-sponsored Adex Engenius'17
inter-university tech competition. I additionally went to the "Career & Employment" Seminar put on by
the CUET Career Club. During my undergraduate education, I also got the chance to learn a lot about
electrical and electronic engineering, and we were able to complete a thesis in the last year. I wasn't sure
whether to start working right away or pursue an MSc after receiving my BSc. However, I've begun
working as an AGM (Assistant General Manager) Technical for a government agency in Bangladesh. In
2020, I published my first study report on a Springer book chapter. The study, titled "IoT Based Bi-
Directional Speed Control and Monitoring of Single Phase Induction Motors," was mine as the first
author. I participated in a training session for that business throughout my professional career and shared
my suggestions for how we may build a low-cost smart system using the Internet of Things. They also
supported my justification for choosing the greatest number, but they gave me some practical advice.
Then I realize that even though I have prior knowledge of the Internet of Things (IoT) and power systems
thanks to my research experience and academic training, I still need in-depth knowledge of these
technologies to implement them nationally and put an end to this terrible power outage situation. In order
to expand my expertise in this field, I consequently decided to pursue an MSc in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering. I've concluded that YYY University in the USA will be my greatest option for getting my
MSc after conducting a thorough amount of study.

I'm not pursuing my further education here because there aren't many public universities in my nation that
offer this program. Political turbulence and influence at public colleges also make graduation take longer
than expected, which discourages me from applying. The educational levels at private universities are also
substandard due to a lack of qualified staff. Despite the fact that some of them offer this program, their
tuition costs are almost the same as what I can pay to complete my studies at a foreign university. As a
result, I believe that earning a degree from a university like YYY in the USA will be highly valued in my
nation. The USA, on the other hand, is the top choice for international students, and it is also my pick
because it is a vibrant nation where students can easily grow and interact thanks to its cultural diversity,
hospitable residents, incredible living environment, and wide academic system.

Students are drawn to YYY University because of the quality of its teaching, scholarship, and service.
The academic environment is continually improving, and the professors are tremendously motivating, so
the students may improve. I, therefore, think that a degree from a university like YYY University in the
USA will be well appreciated in my nation. Additionally, they support international students by offering
scholarships to deserving students who are not wealthy.

My long-term professional objective is to head up a corporation in Bangladesh's maintenance department

or power division, with important duties all around me. Although gas and other fuel shortages are causing
an energy crisis in Bangladesh, I think the issue might be resolved by integrating a variety of sources into
a smart grid using IoT. Because the fourth industrial revolution is based on these technologies, I can use
my degree-related skills to implement M2M and IoT in the electrical sector, smart industries, and other
areas to better the existing situation. My work chances in a senior position with high pay will grow as a
result of this degree.

I am well aware of the expenses involved with living and going to University in the United States. My
father will pay for anything related to my studies. He runs a business in Bangladesh. As a result, he won't
have any trouble setting up the money. In addition, my parents have money set aside to pay for any
unanticipated costs that may emerge.

The main reason I would go back to Bangladesh is for my family. I hold my connections to my friends,
family, and other people in the highest regard. My family is all in Bangladesh, and I've never been away
from them for as long as I am now. Perhaps most importantly, I don't want my parents to feel alone at a
time when they most need me. Nothing will stop me from returning to my dear country of Bangladesh
after completing my education in the United States of America to work for the development of the
Bangladeshi people and to launch my professional career.
