HOW TO INSTALL SVG + DXF FILES

FOR CRICUT MACHINES

1. Log into Cricut Design Space

2. Click on “New Project” and use the upload button to upload the SVG file.
We do not recommend using the DXF file in Cricut Design Space as the SVG file type works best in Cricut.
*Using Sure cuts a lot?
Some SVG files do not work properly in Sure cuts a lot 2 and the SVG file may look distorded with points.
This is due to the SCAL software modifying the SVG. This is not a problem with the SVG but with the
software compatibility itself. In this instance, I recommend you use Cricut Design Space or Inkscape.
We have created a detailed video tutorial to help you upload SVG files to Cricut Design Space:

FOR SILHOUETTE MACHINES

1. Log into Silhouette Studio

2. Go to File > Open and locate the SVG/DXF file on your computer.
Once the file is uploaded, if you are having trouble with any shapes/letters such as O, A, P, D, R etc...
you will need to make a compound path by selecting the entire image, right clicking and selecting
“make compound path”.

PLEASE NOTE:
*If you have Silhouette Studio Basic Edition (free version), you can only import the DXF file.
*If you have Designer or Business Edition (paid version), you can import both the SVG/DXF files.

FOR BROTHER MACHINES

1. Log into CanvasWorkspace

2. Click on “New” and use the import SVG button to upload the SVG/DXF file.
Occasionally, the CanvasWorkspace software does not allow files with compound paths (such as
characters like O, A, P, R, R that have internal cut spaces). While we endeavour to ensure all our file types
accommodate this by default, if you encounter this issue please contact me.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
If you are having trouble with the SVG or DXF files, please read below:

GENERAL ISSUES TO BE AWARE OF

- You MUST first unzip the design folder to get to the files inside. Do NOT upload the .zip folder to your
cutting machine, it will not work.
- Do NOT double click on the SVG or DXF files directly to open them as they will not open properly. You need to
upload them to your Cutting Machine Software (eg. Cricut Design Space/Silhouette Studio)
- You can NOT upload PDF files to cutting machines, these types of files are intended for print and cut only.
- Some files like Butterflies are layered files, once you upload the files to your cutting machine software, you will
need to UNGROUP all the layers before cutting them.
If you are having issues with the file, please contact me with photos/screen shots of the issue so I can help
detect what is happening.

THE SVG/DXF FILE WONʼT OPEN

Make sure it is the correct file type for your cutting machine that you are trying to upload. There are multiple
file types included in the design folder.
Please note, that if your computer has a web browser or other program set as the default program to open
SVG files, the file type may be incorrectly listed within the folder. The best way to see the file types is to look
at the file extension.
If you find yourself having issues with the files (they won’t upload etc...) they may have been damaged or
corrupted during the unzipping process. We recommend completely deleting the files/design folder
and re-download a fresh copy of the files and to start the process again.

MY FILE IS MISSING

If you seem to be missing a file please contact me asap.

Are you using a Windows PC?
Depending on how your default program is set, it is difficult to identify the SVG file as it may display as a
“HTML Document” which is confusing, especially if you do not have your file name extensions showing.
Please ignore this default program setting and upload this SVG cutting file directly to your cutting software and
it should display correctly inside the software.

FOIL QUILL, PENS OR ENGRAVING

Tips for using a Foil Quill, Ink Pen and Engraver

1. Don't forget to change the setting to “Draw” instead of “Cut”.
2. Be sure to select all elements and “Attach”, so the individual stroke lines don’t separate.
