in hypotonic (0.

45% NaCl) IV fluid, there will be a net movement of water from isotonic solution into
the cell. This is because the concentration of solute in red blood cell is higher. water will absorb into
the red blood cell and eventually burst. this phenomenan is called hemolysis

When we drink water using the straw, water molecules will go through cohesion and adhesion.
Cohesion and adhesion are two water property, cohesion means that water sticks to itself while
adhesion means that water sticks to other things, which in this case water will stick to the surface of
the straw. Water molecule in the straw are held together by a cohesive force which is intermolecular
hydrogen bond. Hydorgen bond will form when the positive side on one water molecule comes near
the negative side of another water molecule, then they will attract each other and create a hydrogen
bond. Cohesion is responsible for the water molecules to stick together while Adhesion helps the
water molecule to bind to the walls of the straw and this is the reason why water has high capilary
action and causes the water to move upwards when we suck through the straw.

Water has a property which is cohesion, it forms by water molecules linking to each other by
hydrogen bonds. Therefore, this causes the water to have high surface tension and it becomes
difficult to break the surface of a liquid due to the hydrogen bonding between air- water molecules
at the air water interface and to the water below. Thus, cohesive forces between hydrogen atom
create surface tension which allow water to rise up inside of the straw
