Group Assignment for the course ‘Management Theory and Practice”
On Company visit reports

Sequences of activities to be done:


a) Organize your selves in to a group of 5 (but not more than 6) members and then make company
visit taking care of your selves from COVID 19.
b) The company to be visited can be well established manufacturing factories or service giving
organization which you are familiar with to get easy access to required data.
c) Read as many management books as you can and take any one basic management concept. The
concept to be selected my be any of the following area:
i) planning
ii) Organizing
iii) Leading
iv) Controlling
v) Decision Making
vi) Motivation

d) Set five objectives that enable you to relate the theory learned in the class with the reality you
will achieve at the end of your visit.
E.g.: If your topic is “planning Practices of XYZ Company”, your objectives may be stated as
follows:
The objectives of this company visit are:
i) To identify the various planning practiced in xyz.
ii) To identify the factors that affects the implementation of the plan in xyz.
iii) To examine the procedures used to prepare the plan in xyz.
iv) To describe the contribution of the plan to achieve organizational goals in xyz.
v) To evaluate the strengths and weakness of the company in its planning practice.
e) Make a company visit as per your scheduled time convenient to all members of the group. Use
only interviews and observation checklists to collect information to meet your objectives.

f) Explain the difference and similarities between what you read from the books and what are
actually practiced in the selected company in the areas of your five objectives.

g) Content outline of your visit report will be:


 Background of the company

 Introduction to the area selected to work on

 Objectives of your visit (Five objectives)

 Literature review: The five objectives will be your subtopics of the literature review using the
five books you reviewed

 Visit report:
 Write field notes properly, show your conversation by describing your interview process by
including start time, interviewees answers to each questions, observer’s comment (OC) (if any),
end time for each interviewee. Then, after taking at least six interviews,

 Make thematic analysis by taking the five objectives as subtopics of your data analysis.

 Describe difference between your literature and actual practices of the company.

 Explain similarities between your literature and actual practices of the company.

 Your suggestions to improve the company’s operation

 Attachment of your interview questions and observation checklist

 Total page number of your report should be 20-25. The literature review part should not be more
than 5 pages.

NB: The deadline of submission will be on 10/07/2022
