Explain the following briefly.

1. Describe the parts and functions of the sense organs of the human body and how to take
care of these organs.

Eyes (visual system) - This is for us to see things. To take care of our eyes we need to at least
rest our eyes after using devices to avoid restraining our eyes too much.
Nose (olfactory system) - We use it to smell.
Ears (auditory system)- Our ears are for hearing, we shouldn’t put headsets on then play loud
music that can damage our eardrums.
Skin (somatosensory system)- is for the touch we are able to feel pain because of this organ.
Tongue (gustatory system)- we use our tongue to be able to taste, we should avoid smoking to
take care of ourselves and our sense of taste.

2. Discuss the major organs in humans.

Heart- This is the organ that works to pump the blood all over our body.
Lungs- the important organ in order for us to breathe.
Kidney- filters blood and removes waste products through urine.
Liver- the liver processes the filtration, digestion, metabolism and detoxification.
Skin- protects your body from germs and regulates body temperature.
Bones- provides shape and support for the body, as well as protection for some organs.

3. Give concepts that major organs work together to make the body function properly.

Our organs in the body work together to create a system that helps us everyday in our lives and it
consists of:skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory,
digestive, urinary, and the reproductive system. There are the main key parts of our body.

4. Enumerate the structures and functions of the male and female reproductive system

The male reproductive system includes the testes, penis, epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory
ducts and urethra.

Testes - making sperm and are also involved in producing a hormone called testosterone.
Penis - the organ used for urination and sexual intercourse.
Epididymis - a long, coiled tube that transports sperm from the testes to the vas deferens.
Vas deferens - it carries sperm from the epididymis up to the prostate gland and urethra.
Ejaculatory ducts - delivers sperm into the urethra, adding secretions and additives from the
prostate necessary for sperm function.
Urethra - duct that transmits urine from the bladder to the exterior of the body during urination.

The female reproductive system consists of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina
and vulva.

Ovaries - they produce and store your eggs (also called ovum) and make hormones that control
your menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
Fallopian Tubes - they function as channels for oocyte transport and fertilization.
Uterus - this nourishes the developing fetus prior to birth.
Cervix - sometimes called the “neck of the womb,” your cervix plays an important role in
allowing fluids to pass between your uterus and vagina. It enables a baby to leave your uterus so
that it can travel through your vagina (birth canal) during childbirth.
Vagina - this has 3 major functions: provides a passageway for blood and mucosal tissue from
the uterus during a woman's monthly period. receives the penis during sexual intercourse and
holds the sperm until they pass into the uterus. provides a passageway for childbirth.
Vulva - protects the internal parts of the female reproductive system.
