If I was to become a successful language user, I know I would be able to do a lot more things than I

can right now. As someone who knows 3 languages fluently and is currently learning two I know that
speaking multiple languages can lead to many more possibilities in life, whether that’s with
occupations, love, friendships, etc. With multiple languages I am able to communicate with more
people than someone who speak solely one language. For example, I work as a receptionist at a
hotel, when a traveller stays at the hotel and I know the language they are speaking I can
communicate with them in that language making their experience more pleasant and help them
with any questions they have. It makes me happy being able to communicate with someone in their
native language because as someone who is Spanish living in Ireland I really like being able to speak
Spanish with other people, it helps with the feeling of loneliness you can have, and I want to make
others feel that way. I also like that if I were to travel to Italy for example I would be able to
understand the language and the writing. I believe being able to understand the native language in a
country foreign to you it helps you become more immersed in the culture and connect on a deeper
level with the people. It’s also a relief that if you were lost in a country and spoke the language you
could get help more easily because many people may not speak your native language in that
country. Id be able to ask for directions, recommendations on sights to visit, food to eat, things to
do, id be able to make my experience in a foreign country more enjoyable.
