● PAUL GAUGUIN - TO BE CASTED
● PAUL GATCHET - Moises Barboza

(ACT 1, PRELUDE: The curtain rises, revealing a wall that features the “The
Starry Night” painting by VINCENT VAN GOGH. Footsteps are faintly heard in
the background, as the museum manager, THOMAS, walks next to it. He addresses
the audience with his monologue.)

THOMAS:
Hello, and welcome all to the Museum of Modern Art. My name is Thomas, and I
will be your guide throughout this tour. Now, you might want to start off by
silencing any mobile devices you may have, as it will absolutely break the
immersion and will distract yourself from the world of art. I’ll give you some time
to do that now… (he checks his watch) All done, now? Splendid. Let’s carry on
with the tour.

(a group of people walk towards the painting)

CITIZEN:
Whoa… What’s that painting called?

THOMAS:
Ah! I’m very glad you asked. That, my friend, is “The Starry Night” , painted by
the revolutionary artist Vincent Van Gogh,

CITIZEN:
Vincent Van… who?

THOMAS:
Vincent Van Gogh. He was an artist that was challenged with oppression and self-
doubt.. But soon enough, he overcame it all, and claimed the title as “The best
artist who has ever lived.”

CITIZEN.
That is, like, totally crazy. Please, tell us more!

THOMAS:
You’ve got it, follow me!
(THOMAS and the crowd of people walk off stage, as he continues to narrate)

THOMAS:
Vincent was a man of wonder, who was not afraid to step out of his comfort zone.
He holds art in a very special place inside his heart. This is the story of Vincent
Van Gogh…

(ACT 1, SCENE 1: As the curtain rises, a warm, sunny spotlight is centered on a

young VINCENT VAN GOGH who stands center stage. He has his back turned on
the audience, as he ambiguously addresses the audience with his narration. )

VINCENT:
Alright, I think I'm ready to do this now…

(He turns around, now facing the audience. A slow and steady drum solo begins to
play faintly)

VINCENT:
My name is Vincent. Vincent Van Gogh.. And I have a destiny. A destiny to
change the world with my art.

(He begins to walk left and right across the stage, grabbing an easel and stool to
set up his art studio)

VINCENT:
Now, I may not know where to begin… but that’s okay. Because an artist always
starts off with a little inspiration, and inspiration is the key to all imagination.

(He then sits on the stool, and whips out a paintbrush from his coat pocket. He
ponders for a second before beginning to paint his next masterpiece.)

“A DREAMER’S DESTINY”
VINCENT:
OH, THE COLORS THAT DANCE INSIDE MY MIND
A MELODY OF WONDER THAT TAKES A BIND
WHERE WILL EACH STROKE TAKE ME TODAY
A FLOW OF JOY THAT FINDS MY WAY

I LIVE IN A WORLD OF STORIES TO BE TOLD

A PAINT BRUSH NEVER GROWS TO BE OLD
MY TIME TO LEAVE MY MARK
A JOURNEY I MUST EMBARK

(The backdrop then transforms to a scene with beautiful buildings, resembling a

peaceful hometown. The villagers then begin to walk amongst VINCENT in the
background)

THOUGH, I DON’T KNOW HOW THIS STORY ENDS

I KNOW I’VE GOT A MESSAGE TO SEND
A RACE WITH TIME, I’VE GOT PLACES TO GO
A LAND OF WONDER I MUST HAVE KNOWN

(He runs up to a nearby villager, startling them. He places his hand on their
shoulder, with his other arm soaring through the sky)

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

A JOURNEY TO FIND MY WAY
A WAY TO FIND MY IDENTITY
OF WHO I REALLY AM IN THE LIGHT OF DAY

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

AND TO THOSE WHO CALL ME NAIVE
I KNOW I’LL FIND YOUR REMEDY
AND FIGHT THOSE WHO’VE GOT YOU DECEIVED
(VINCENT’S brother, THEO VAN GOGH walks onto the stage next to VINCENT,
before tapping his shoulder to gain his attention)

THEO:
OH BROTHER, HOW YOU CHASE YOUR DREAMS
IT INSPIRES ME HOW YOU JUST KEEP GOING
BUT DON’T YOU KNOW YOU MUST CONSIDER REALITY
FIND YOUR WAY AND YOUR DESTINY

I KNOW YOU’VE GOT BIG DREAMS

YOU’VE GOT PLANS AND THEN SOME SCHEMES
DON’T YOU KNOW THAT YOU MUST FIND YOUR WAY
THROUGH LIGHT EVEN IN THE TIME OF DAY

(ViINCENT places his finger onto THEO’s lips)

VINCENT:
-BUT I’M
NO LONGER BOUND TO WHAT PEOPLE SAY
I KNOW I’LL MAKE IT AND FIND MY OWN WAY
THOUGH I DON’T KNOW WHERE I’M CALLED
SOON, I KNOW I’LL LEAVE THOSE APPALLED

(He links arms with his brother, as they run around the stage. VINCENT begins to
wander around the scene, as if he’s amused and inspired)
I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY
A JOURNEY TO FIND MY WAY
A WAY TO FIND MY IDENTITY
OF WHO I REALLY AM IN THE LIGHT OF DAY

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

AND TO THOSE WHO CALL ME NAIVE
I KNOW I’LL FIND YOUR REMEDY
AND FIGHT THOSE WHO’VE GOT YOU DECEIVED

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

A JOURNEY TO FIND MY WAY…

(VINCENT’S father then walks onto the stage next to him and his brother, with a
stern expression)

FATHER:
Ah, there you are boys! I’ve been looking for you two since this morning. Come on
Vincent, it’s time to start your first day of work.

VINCENT:
Seriously? You know I told you I didn’t want to start today! We made a deal!

FATHER:
I know, but you know times are tough. So we need you to start right away!

(Vincent now expresses a distressed and frustrated mood)

VINCENT:
WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO SEE
THAT I HAVE NOTHING BUT A DESTINY
ALL I EVER WANT IS FOR YOU TO DREAM
AND FOR YOU TO SEE THIS OPPORTUNITY

FATHER:
MY BOY, WHEN WILL YOU SEE OUR CONCERN
DON’T YOU THINK IT’S TIME TO TAKE A TURN
YOUR PATH I’VE COME TO SEE IS SO UNCLEAR
IT TOOK A LOT FOR ME TO HIDE MY FEAR

YOU’RE NOTHING SHORT OF A DREAMER

BUT WHAT YOU COULD BE IS A REDEEMER
LET THE LORD REVEAL YOUR WAY
AND ALL THIS CONFLICT GO RIGHT WILL AWAY

VINCENT:
-OH WOULD YOU JUST,
OPEN YOUR EYES, AND LOOK WHAT’S AHEAD OF YOU
TAKE MY HAND AND GIVE ME TRUST
I’VE GOT NOTHING BUT THINGS TO PROVE
MY ONLY PLAN IS TO DO AS I MUST
FATHER:
I’m sorry son, but your dreams don’t put food on the table. Now come on, the
plaza is waiting for you!

(THEO AND FATHER both walk off the stage separately.)

THOUGH, I DON’T KNOW HOW THIS STORY ENDS

I KNOW I’VE GOT A MESSAGE TO SEND

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

A JOURNEY TO FIND MY WAY
A WAY TO FIND MY IDENTITY
OF WHO I REALLY AM IN THE LIGHT OF DAY

I KNOW I’VE GOT A DREAMER’S DESTINY

AND TO THOSE WHO CALL ME NAIVE
I KNOW I’LL FIND YOUR REMEDY
AND FIGHT THOSE WHO’VE GOT YOU DECEIVED

(All the villagers circle around VINCENT, forming a mesmerizing dance sequence
that captivates the audience)

ALL:
DON’T WE ALL HAVE A DESTINY
A POINT TO PROVE OUR IDENTITY
OF WHO WE REALLY ARE IN THE TIME OF DAY
AND TO FIND OUR OWN WAY

(FATHER comes from the corner of the stage, now fueled with irritation)

FATHER:
Vincent! Let’s go! Time is ticking and we still need to prepare for dinner soon!
VINCENT:
Okay, okay… I’m coming.

(END OF SCENE 1)

(ACT 1, SCENE 2: VINCENT AND FATHER both walk into a busy street filled
with villagers and salespeople. There’s an abundance of artwork being traded and
sold that fills the scene.)

VINCENT:
Father, I really don’t want to do this. Are you sure there isn’t any other job I can do
besides selling this stuff?

FATHER:
First off, no. This is the best thing you could possibly be doing. And secondly, quit
complaining! There’s many others that have it worse than you. It’s not like you
have a choice anyway.

VINCENT:
(He groans) Whatever you say.. How long do I have to be here again?

FATHER:
Until four-thirty sharp. You’re lucky since you’re not staying ‘till six. We’re
preparing dinner early this evening.

VINCENT:
Sounds good.. I guess.
FATHER:
Meet me back at the plaza when you’re done with your shift. I’ll be there waiting
for you.

VINCENT:
You’ve got it. I’ll be sure to hate every second of it.

FATHER:
Come on now, loosen up a little. Besides, maybe this is what you’re called to do
for the rest of your life.

VINCENT:
(Scoffs) Selling art? Yeah right.

FATHER:
Okay, well I’ve got to go. I’ll see you right after your shift.

(FATHER walks off the stage. Vincent walks up to his booth, where he hesitantly
greets a customer who walks up to him.)

VINCENT:
Anything peaking your interest?

CUSTOMER:
Yes sir, the painting that’s to the left of you.

(VINCENT gazes at the painting the customer points to)

VINCENT:
Oh, you mean that one? …It’s beautiful. Who painted it?

CUSTOMER:
Tell me about it! I actually don’t know though, but it sure is an eye-catcher. The
artist must be from somewhere beautiful.. Somewhere like Paris.
VINCENT:
Paris you say? Why, I’ve always wanted to go there! ..It’s too bad I'm stuck here
selling art, though.

CUSTOMER:
Well… you really don't have to be.

(VINCENT grows a puzzled expression on his face)

VINCENT:
What do you mean? I have absolutely no money to my name. Heck, we’re
struggling to afford food at the moment!

CUSTOMER:
Well.. you can’t let money stop you from doing what you love.

VINCENT:
Yeah, try telling that to my father. He’s the reason why I’m stuck here.

COSTUMER:
Well, I wouldn’t say you’re stuck.. You’ve just got to follow your heart. You can’t
let others dictate what you want to do in your life… Look, all I’m trying to say is,
you don’t have to restrict yourself. Only you can make that decision on whether or
not you’re ready to change the world.

(Vincent suddenly gets an epiphany, pausing his flow of speech for a moment.)

VINCENT:
Y’know what? …You’re right. You’re absolutely right! I don’t have to be stuck
here… I’m sorry, but I’ve got to go.

(He then runs off the stage in pure excitement, neglecting his job)

COSTUMER:
Wait! What about the painting! I would still like to buy it! ..Oh well.
(END OF SCENE 2)

(ACT 1, SCENE 3: VINCENT Walks sneakily into his art studio, as he begins to sit
onto his stool to create his next masterpiece. Suddenly, a stage light appears on
THEO, who was standing behind VINCENT the whole time. He becomes startled.)

VINCENT:
Ah! Theo! What’re you doing in my room?!

THEO:
The better question is what are you doing? It isn’t four-thirty yet, which means
your shift hasn’t ended.

VINCENT:
How do you know when my shift ends?

THEO:
I asked father when you’d be back, and he told me that you’d be back from your
job at four-thirty.

VINCENT:
Oh. Well, they can’t know I'm here! Do you know how much trouble I’d be in?

THEO:
Yeah, a ton, which is why you need to go back.
VINCENT:
Not anymore I don’t, because I’m on my way to Paris!

THEO:
...What? You can’t go to Paris!

VINCENT:
Sure I can! I may not have any money, but I have a little something called
determination, which is a lot more valuable than money.

THEO:
Look, I support your dreams and all.. but let's be realistic here! We don't have the
money or the time to do what we really want to do.. and it's unfortunate, I know.
But guess what? One day, you'll make an impact and you'll change the world with
who you are. But for now, just stick to selling art.

VINCENT:
That may be true, but I know there’s greater things in store for us. I just know it.
You’ve just got to trust me.

“WE’LL BE FOUND”
THEO:
OH, CAN’T YOU SEE WHAT’S AHEAD OF YOU
YOU’VE YET TO START BUT YOU HAVE A TON TO PROVE
WE’VE GOT SUCH A PERFECT LIFE
AND THERE’S NO NEED TO ROLL THE DICE
DAY AND NIGHT WE TRY TO GET TO YOU
BUT YOU DON’T SEEM KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING RIGHT INTO
A WILD DREAMER IS HOW YOU’LL BE DEFINED
YOUR WAY OF LIFE IS OUT OF MY MIND

VINCENT:
EXACTLY! WHICH MEANS THAT-
SOMEDAY WE’LL BE FOUND
WE’LL HAVE GROUND TO PUT OUR FOOT DOWN ON
SOMEDAY WE’LL FLY HIGH
OUR END IS NOTHING SHORT OF NIGH

(VINCENT AND THEO begin walking in a circle, exchanging lyrics back and
forth)

THEO:
DON’T YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING TOO FAR
VINCENT:
-NOT AT ALL
THEO:
WE’RE FINE JUST THE WAY WE ARE
VINCENT:
-ARE WE THOUGH
THEO:
TOGETHER WE’LL BE JUST FINE
VINCENT:
-IF YOU COME WITH ME
AND WE’LL MAKE SURE WE KEEP THINGS IN LINE
VINCENT:
-WE HAVE PLACES TO BE

VINCENT/THEO:
BROTHER, JUST PUT YOUR HAND IN MINE
AND TOGETHER WE’LL BE JUST FINE
COME WITH ME WHY DON’T YOU
AND YOU’LL SEE WHAT I’VE COME TO PROVE

VINCENT:
OH,
SOMEDAY WE’LL BE FOUND
THEO:
ARE YOU SURE
WE’LL HAVE GROUND TO PUT OUR FOOT DOWN ON
VINCENT:
KEEP IT PURE
SOMEDAY WE’LL FLY HIGH
VINCENT:
I WANT THE BEST FOR YOU
OUR END IS NOTHING SHORT OF NIGH
VINCENT:
SO YOU DO YOU
VINCENT/THEO:
HOPEFULLY WE’LL BE FOUND

(THEO hugs VINCENT tightly, with a tear in his eye)

THEO:
I’ve gotta say.. You’re the most committed artist I’ve ever come to know. I really
do want what’s best for you, but also what’s best for our family.

VINCENT:
I get it.. I really do. Which is why I'm going to do what I love most, and not let
anyone else tell me otherwise. Trust me, I know we’ll be found one day.

THEO:
I know we are.. I know.

VINCENT:
I can just feel the excitement flowing through my veins! I’m ready to go out there
and say, “Here I am, world! I'm ready to show you all who I am. I'm ready to leave
a legacy and to be remembered for years upon years! You may not know me now..
but soon you will.” I hope so at least.

(VINCENT turns to his brother)

.I really hope this works out. What if they call me a fool? What if I become the
laughing stock of the whole town?!

THEO:
With how committed you are? No way! I know you’re going to change the world
with your art.

VINCENT:
Do you think so?
THEO:
I know so… Now, you better get outta here quick, like, right now! You can’t let
father see you here this early.

VINCENT:
Won’t he notice that I’m gone?

THEO:
Well, yeah.. But don’t worry. I have a plan in mind. I’ll tell father you’re on a
mandatory business trip and that you’ll be back in no time.

VINCENT:
That’s not a bad idea.. besides , I know that I won’t be there for long. I’ll probably
be back within a couple of days!

THEO:
And would you look at that, the stars are aligning perfectly! Also, I want you to
have this.
(He gives VINCENT some money from his pocket)

VINCENT:
What’s this? You can’t give me anything right now, especially because we’re
struggling!

THEO:
I mean, how else are you going to get to Paris? That should be enough for a train
ticket and some food.

VINCENT:
Where did you even get this from? How do I even repay you?

THEO:
All I can say is that I’ve been raising for my own thing.. Now seriously, get out of
here before father notices.
VINCENT:
Alright.. Well, I’ll see you on the other side, brother.

THEO:
Godspeed, Vincent.

(The two hug it out, before Vincent leaves the scene and exits through the
audience.)

(END OF SCENE 3)

(ACT !, SCENE 4: VINCENT walks up to a backdrop resembling a train station,

with other citizens sitting on a bench, waiting for their train to arrive.)

VINCENT:
God.. I can’t believe I'm actually doing this.. To be so far from home for the first
time.

(He walks up to a nearby citizen)

Excuse me, do you know when the next train to Paris leaves?

CITIZEN:
Well, it seems to be right now.

(The sound of a train pulling up is heard from a distance.)

“BLOOMING PARADISE”
VINCENT:
ADVENTURE CALLS, FROM RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME
PLACES TO BE, AND DREAMS TO SEEK
OH, HOW I’M FINALLY FREE
NO LONGER BOUND, I’M ABLE TO SPEAK

TO CATCH THE WIND WOULD BE A DREAM

MY CURIOSITY POURING OUT THE SEEMS
I’M FINALLY FREE TO FLY HIGH
REACH SO HIGH AND TOUCH THE SKY

EVERYTHING TO ME NOW SEEMS POSSIBLE

ANY DOUBT TO OCCUR SEEMS IMPROBABLE
I’M ON MY WAY TO A PLACE ANEW
BUT GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT I’M GETTING INTO

(The backdrop transforms to the inside of a busy train, filled with parallel benches
facing each other)

VINCENT:
MY CALLING AWAITS WHERE I FIND MY JOY
A LAND OF WONDER TO HEAR MY VOICE
TO FIND MY WAY WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE
A TOWN WHERE I CAN FIND MY WAY THROUGH

YOU SEE, I’M ALREADY SO FAR AHEAD

IN THIS WORLD I CAN ONLY ASCEND
IT’S TAKING A LOT JUST TO FLOW MY THOUGHTS
TO GET IT TOGETHER AND TO TIE UP MY KNOTS

TIME TO SEE WHAT THIS TOWN’S ABOUT

I’LL BE SURE TO SCOUT IT IN AND OUT
THOUGH I’M ALONE, I’M STILL ON MY WAY
TO FIND MYSELF IN THE LIGHT OF DAY
THIS IS GOING TO TAKE A LOT FROM ME
TO BECOME WHO I’M CALLED TO BE
SOME MAY THINK I’M LOST OR A STRAY
BUT LITTLE DO THEY KNOW MY WAY

(Vincent begins dancing and maneuvering around the cabin, amusing the citizens
onboard)

THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF A-

BLOOMING PARADISE
WHERE MY DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT
NO LONGER STRAINED TO
ANY OTHER’S MIND

CAN’T YOU SEE WHERE I’M GETTING AT

WHERE DREAMS ARE MEANT TO LAST
FINALLY FREE TO DO WHAT I DO BEST
I CAN SAY WITH MY FULL-HEARTED CHEST

(All the citizens rise up from their benches to perform a complex dance sequence,
with VINCENT weaving through them)

VINCENT:
OH-OH-OH-OH
CAN’T YOU SEE WHERE I’M GETTING AT
WHERE DREAMS ARE MEANT TO LAST
FINALLY FREE TO DO WHAT I DO BEST
I CAN SAY WITH MY FULL-HEARTED CHEST

(The backdrop once again transforms, this time to a beautiful scene of Paris, filled
with an abundance of buildings and lamp posts that fill the stage)
TIME TO SEE WHAT THIS TOWN’S ABOUT
I’LL BE SURE TO SCOUT IT IN AND OUT
THOUGH I’M ALONE, I’M STILL ON MY WAY
TO FIND MYSELF IN THE LIGHT OF DAY

THIS IS GOING TO TAKE A LOT FROM ME

TO BECOME WHO I’M CALLED TO BE
SOME MAY THINK I’M LOST OR A STRAY
BUT LITTLE DO THEY KNOW MY WAY

THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF A-

BLOOMING PARADISE
WHERE MY DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT
NO LONGER STRAINED TO
ANY OTHER’S MIND

CAN’T YOU SEE WHERE I’M GETTING AT

WHERE DREAMS ARE MEANT TO LAST
FINALLY FREE TO DO WHAT I DO BEST
I CAN SAY WITH MY FULL-HEARTED CHEST

ALL:
THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF A-
BLOOMING PARADISE
WHERE MY DREAMS TAKE FLIGHT
NO LONGER STRAINED TO
ANY OTHER’S MIND

CAN’T YOU SEE WHERE I’M GETTING AT

WHERE DREAMS ARE MEANT TO LAST
FINALLY FREE TO DO WHAT I DO BEST
WE CAN SAY WITH MY FULL-HEARTED CHEST
(The citizens of the town begin to dance along with Vincent during the dance
break. After the dance break, the entire scene is now darkened, with the exception
of VINCENT, who is now under the spotlight)

VINCENT:
OH-OH-OH-OH
TIME TO FIND MY LIGHT
AND LEAVE THOSE BLIND
DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND
OR YOU’LL BE HARD TO FIND

(END OF SCENE 4)

(ACT 1, SCENE 5: We now see VINCENT walking in a busy cafe filled with many
guests. A waitress, CHRISTINE HOORNIK, is around serving the guests sitting at
each table. VINCENT is clearly astonished by the scenery.)

CHRISTINE:
Alrighty, here’s your toast and coffee.

(She walks away from the table, not noticing VINCENT standing near her. The two
bump into each other)

CHRISTINE:
Oh my goodness- I am so sorry dear! I didn’t see you there!

VINCENT:
It’s all good, as long no one is hurt, right?

(They both laugh it off before gazing into each other’s eyes, both immediately
lovestruck.)

VINCENT:
(Nervously stuttering) This place seems pretty good. Can I get a table for one,
please?
CHRISTINE:
Just for one? Darling, no one here gets a table just for themselves. You don’t have
any company with you?

VINCENT:
(Now embarrassed) I’m afraid I don’t. I recently just got off the train and I was just
looking for a place to eat. I could go somewhere else if-

CHRISTINE:
(She cuts him off) No! I mean… I just got off the clock, so.. We could get a table
for two. Just for you and me.

VINCENT:
Really?! I mean.. Sure thing.

(The two then sit themselves down at an empty table)

CHRISTINE:
So, you’re new here, right?

VINCENT:
I sure am. I actually come from Zundert. I used to sell art there, but I just now
moved so I can pursue my dreams of being an artist.

CHRISTINE:
Whoa, you’re wanting to be an artist?!

VINCENT:
Well.. yeah. I really am. Only problem is that.. Back at home, we struggled
financially, and money became a really big issue. I never really had enough time to
myself or to pursue my dreams.
CHRISTINE:
Darling,.. That is just so unfortunate. But you know something? You can’t let that
stop you from doing what you love most.

VINCENT:
That's exactly what a stranger once said to me!

CHRISTINE:
Sounds to me that stranger must be pretty wise.

VINCENT:
Well, you must be pretty wise yourself for you to say that as well.

(She blushes, and hesitantly looks away from him)

CHRISTINE:
..Well, since you’re new to this town, how about I give you a quick tour after we
get a bite?

VINCENT:
I wouldn’t mind that one bit. As a matter of fact, I’ll take some bread to go.

(Vincent grabs a piece of bread from the counter and stuffs it into his coat pocket.
She laughs, as they both get up from the table. She takes him by the hand and they
leave the scene together, hand in hand)

“ROMANCE ON A CANVAS”

CHRISTINE:
Y’know something? I never got your name.

VINCENT:
Ah, that’s right! It’s Vincent.
CHRISTINE:
Vincent, eh? I like it. Mine’s Christine, and so far It’s been a pleasure to take you
on this tour.

(Sung)
YOU’VE GOT A TON TO SEE, MY DEAR
SOON, EVERYTHING WILL BE MADE CLEAR
FOLLOWING LINES ISN’T HARD AT ALL
WITH ME, WE’RE GONNA HAVE A BALL

THIS FEELING IN MY HEART TELLS ME OUR WAY

THE WAY TO GO ON ANY KIND OF DAY
SOON ENOUGH YOU’LL FIND OUT WHERE TO GO
WHY DON’T WE START HERE, LET'S TAKE OUR ROW

THE PATH IS A CALLING ON THE BOTH OF US

TOGETHER WE’LL BUILD THIS BRIDGE OF TRUST
I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S AHEAD OF OUR JOURNEY
BUT ALL I KNOW IS THAT WE HAVE PLACES TO BE

VINCENT:
(spoken) I like your style!

VINCENT/CHRISTINE:
WE ARE SO AHEAD OF TIME
NO NEED TO STOP AND WONDER WHERE OUR END LIES
JUST YOU AND ME, TOGETHER AND FOREVER
WE’LL TAKE THIS ON WITH OUR ENDEAVORS

CHRISTINE:
(In a joyful expression) Alright, where to next?

VINCENT:
What about over there? (he points to a lamp post)
CHRISTINE:
You’ve got it.

(the two run towards the incandescent lamp post, while they twirl around it)\

VINCENT:
I’VE MADE MY ROUNDS AND I’M READY TO GO
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN IF YOU CAN HANDLE MY FLOW
RACE AROUND THROUGH TIME AND BACK
AS FAR AS I KNOW WE HAVE NOTHING TO LACK

WATCH ME GO AND SEE WHAT I CAN DO

IT’S NOT THAT HARD, YOU CAN FOLLOW ME TOO
TOGETHER, WE’LL CATCH EACH OTHER’S FLOW
AND SOON ENOUGH WE’LL BE ON OUR WAY TO GO

CHRISTINE:
DON’T GO TOO FAR AHEAD NOW
‘CAUSE WHEN YOU’RE WITH ME, YOU’LL NEED TO SLOW DOWN

VINCENT;
THAT’S FINE, JUST TAKE MY HAND

CHRISTINE:
OKAY, I’LL TRY TO UNDERSTAND

VINCENT:
THE WAY WE GO OUR PATH ADVANCES
ALONG WITH TIME, THE SKY DANCES
CHRISTINE:
NOW YOU SEEM TO GET MY FLOW
YOU SEEM TO KNOW WHERE TO GO

VINCENT/CHRISTINE:
AS WE GO OUR WAY LOOKS SO BRIGHT
WE GO TOGETHER IT'S SUCH A DELIGHT
TOGETHER WE WILL GET IT THROUGH
WITH US THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN’T DO

WE ARE SO AHEAD OF TIME

NO NEED TO STOP AND WONDER WHERE OUR END LIES
JUST YOU AND ME, TOGETHER AND FOREVER
WE’LL TAKE THIS ON WITH OUR ENDEAVORS

JUST YOU AND ME, TOGETHER WE MAKE TWO

THERE’S SO MUCH WE CAN DO
FOREVER WE PAINT ROMANCE ON A CANVAS
THIS WAY IS LOOKING BRIGHT FOR US

(As the number ends, they both gaze into each others eyes, both of their hands on
top of each other)

CHRISTINE:
Say.. you’re an artist, right?

VINCENT:
That’s right! And this city has given me a heckuva ton of inspiration.

CHRISTINE:
Well.. I could get you some more of that inspiration if you’d like.
VINCENT:
(Visibly confused) ..What are you saying?

CHRISTINE:
(She laughs) One thing I never told you is that I’m also a part time model. What if
I gave you some references?

VINCENT:
Oh! I wouldn’t mind that at all… not at all.

(The two look into each other's eyes for a moment, before she checks her watch)

CHRISTINE:
Well, it’s getting late, so I better head home.

VINCENT:
Indeed it is. What time do you start tomorrow?

CHRISTINE:
I start from nine to six. Typical, I know, but it pays the bills.

VINCENT:
(He laughs) I get that. Suppose I’ll see you then.. Tomorrow morning?

CHRISTINE:
Sounds fine to me.

(She kisses him on the cheek, leaving VINCENT stunned. He then walks off stage)

(END OF SCENE 5)

(ACT 1, SCENE 6: It’s the next day, as VINCENT walks up to the cafe to meet up
with CHRISTINE, who has an upset look on her face. He’s seen carrying a canvas
with his artwork on it)

CHRISTINE:
(With a melancholy tone) Hey there, Vincent.

VINCENT:
Why hello! ..Wait, why the long face? Is work stressing you out?

CHRISTINE:
Well… you can say that.

VINCENT:
Come on… you can tell me anything. You may not know me too well, but I’d be
happy to help you the best I can.

CHRISTINE:
Vincent, my dear, I rest assure you that I’m fine.

VINCENT:
Are you sure?

CHRISTINE:
Yeah… I’m fine.

VINCENT:
Something’s telling me that you aren’t.

CHRISTINE:
(She sighs) Okay… fine. I’ll fess up. I just haven't been right for the past few days.
You’re an amazing person and all.. But I don’t think I'm ready for commitment.

VINCENT:
Oh.. I see.
CHRISTINE:
I’m really sorry, Vincent. It really isn’t your fault. It’s mine. I shouldn’t have given
you that tour.. I got way too far ahead of myself…

(VINCENT is now clearly upset, but doesn’t say anything. She notices the canvas
in VINCENT’s arms)

CHRISTINE:
What do you’ve got right there?

VINCENT:
Oh, this thing? This is just a canvas I did some artwork on last night. I don’t think
it’s any good, though. I heard of an art festival they had going on in the city so I
figured I’d attend it.

CHRISTINE:
I see.. May I take a look at it?

(VINCENT reveals the canvas, which is a remarkably well-done painting of

flowers)

CHRISTINE:
That… is beautiful. I’ve never seen any artist accomplish something of that caliber.

VINCENT:
(He slightly smiles) I’m glad you like it… And I’m really sorry for everything that
night. I should’ve just gone to a different cafe.

CHRISTINE:
No, trust me. As I said, this isn’t your fault. I’m just,,, afraid of commitment.
That’s all.

VINCENT:
I understand that… Well, if I'm being honest, I think you’re a really special
woman, and I really mean it. I also think you have much potential to be a model of
my works and I-

CHRISTINE:
(she cuts him off) Just admit it, you think I'm a klutz! I mean, just look at me.. I'm
no good for you. You have so much power in your hands to change the world with
your artwork.. and here I am. Just a waitress serving coffee at a café. I'm no good
for you.. I'm sorry Vincent.

(CHRISTINE runs off crying, while VINCENT stands there mournfully. He walks
off the stage, filled with doubt. The backdrop now shifts to an abundance of bright
buildings resembling an art festival. VINCENT walks through the scenery amazed.
He stumbles upon a peculiar art piece that catches his eye. This is where he runs
into PAUL GAUGUIN.)

VINCENT:
Now, that is one amazing piece.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
I’d have to agree with you if I do say so myself. I actually painted this myself.

VINCENT:
Really? Well, you’ve got a handful of talent, that's for sure.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Yeah, it’s what I've been told.. (He notices the canvas VINCENT is holding) You
seem to be an artist yourself. What kind of work do you do?

VINCENT:
Oh… Well, I uhm.. Get inspiration from the world around me.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
I see… Can I see that painting of yours?

(He shows him the painintg)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Why.. this is astonishing! I’ve gotta say, this is something I did not expect.

VINCENT:
Do you really think so?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Well, of course! I mean, the proportions, the palette.. The colors really compliment
everything! What do you call it?

VINCENT:
I call it uhm… uh.. The Vase With Sunflowers.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
...Okay, we’ve got to work on the name. But besides that, this work is profound!
How much for it?

VINCENT:
Oh.. it’s not for sale. Sorry.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Ah. My apologies for assuming. Well.. I’ve always wanted to work with other
artists and such, but I’ve had no luck.. Until I saw you, my friend. What is your
name?

VINCENT:
Vincent. Vincent Van Gogh, and you are..?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Paul Gauguin. It’s been a delight meeting you.

(The two shake hands in greeting each other)

VINCENT:
Well.. how do you want to do this collaboration thing?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Oh, I’ve got it covered. I have my studio in the city of Arles. You should come
take a visit with me.

VINCENT:
Oh, are you sure? I don’t want to go too far from my home.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Nonsense! Don’t worry, you won’t be too far at all. Especially with my mode of
transportation, we’ll be there in no time.

VINCENT:
..Well, if you say so. What is this mode of transportation you speak of?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Well, let’s just say I know some folks who own a carriage.
(At this point, VINCENT is now convinced and thrilled)

VINCENT:
Count me in.

(END OF SCENE 6)

(ACT 1, SCENE 7, We now see a backdrop resembling the interior of the famous
Yellow House, where VINCENT walks in with PAUL GAUGUIN who shows him
around.)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Well… here it is. This is my studio. It’s not much, but at least it’s a place to call
home.
VINCENT:
Woah… This is definitely something. I see where you get all of your inspiration
from.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
You’ve got that right. This is where I’ve done all of my most renowned works.

VINCENT:
I see… I have a question.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Yeah, what is it?

VINCENT:
Do you think I’ll be good enough like you one day?

PAUL GAUGUIN
(He chuckles) Vincent, my friend, you’re one of the most unique painters I’ve ever
stumbled across. If anything, I should be the one asking you that question. Though,
if you really want me to though, I can show you how to do it my way.

VINCENT:
What do you mean by that?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Well, I can show you my workflow. How I get my work done… Only if you’re
willing too of course.

VINCENT:
I mean… It wouldn't hurt to learn now would it?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Not one bit.
“YOU WILL SEE”

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Vinnie, my friend, you’ve got a ton to learn! So I suggest you take a pen and some
paper because you’ll definitely need it,

FIRST THING’S FIRST THAT YOU’LL NEED TO KNOW

IS HOW TO CATCH UP WITH MY FLOW
MY BRUSH IS THE KEY TO ALL WONDER
LISTEN UP OR YOU’LL FALL INTO BLUNDER

ONE COULD MAKE ART ANY DAY

BUT IF YOU FOLLOW ME YOU’LL SEE THERE’S ANOTHER WAY
FOLLOWING STEPS ISN’T HARD AT ALL
WHEN YOU’RE WITH ME YOU’LL HAVE ME APPALLED

ONE STEP AT A TIME IS HOW IT’S DONE

WITH OUR STYLES THEY’LL BECOME ONE
YOU’RE WILLING TO TAKE THE KEY TO ALL SUCCESS
THEN YOU’LL TRY AT YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST

TRYING MY STYLE ISN’T HARD TO DO

IF I CAN DO IT, THEN SO CAN YOU
MY FRIEND, YOU’VE GOT SO MUCH TO TRY
TOGETHER WE WILL REACH THE SKY HIGH

SOON YOU WILL SEE

WHAT IT TAKES TO DO IT JUST LIKE ME
AS TIME FLIES YOU’LL SEE WHAT'S ESSENTIAL
THEN YOU’LL REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL
SOON YOU WILL FLY
FLY SO HIGH AND REACH THE SKY
JUST FOLLOW MY WAYS AND YOU’LL BE FINE
OUR STYLES WILL SOON COMBINE

VINCENT:
I’m not so sure about this now.

PAUL GAUGGUIN:
Come on, we’re just getting started! You’ll get used to it soon.

VINCENT:
SO YOU’RE TELLING ME I’LL SEE MY DAYS
BUT ONLY IF I DO IT YOUR OWN WAY
SOMETHING’S TELLING ME THIS ISN’T RIGHT
MY ONLY WISH IS TO SEE THROUGH THE NIGHT

I THINK HUMBLY YOU’VE GOT IT ALL WRONG

AS ART TAKES MANY FORMS AS IT COMES ALONG
I THINK YOU NEED TO SEE THE OTHER SIDE
OF THE COIN THAT HAPPENS TO BE WIDE

I THINK YOU SHOULD SEE MY POINT OF VIEW

AND SOON WE’LL GET IT THROUGH
JUST FOLLOW MY WORD OF ADVICE
AND YOU WILL SEE IT CAN BE QUITE NICE

ART CAN TAKE MANY FORMS

IT CAN BE THE ROSES TO MY THORNS

PAUL GAUGUIN:
-OH-OH
JUST TAKE MY PLEAD AND YOU’LL SEE
WHAT I MEAN AND WHAT YOU COULD BE
SOON YOU WILL SEE
WHAT IT TAKES TO DO IT JUST LIKE ME
AS TIME FLIES YOU’LL SEE WHAT'S ESSENTIAL
THEN YOU’LL REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL

SOON YOU WILL FLY

FLY SO HIGH AND REACH THE SKY
JUST FOLLOW MY WAYS AND YOU’LL BE FINE
OUR STYLES WILL SOON COMBINE

VINCENT/PAUL GAUGUIN:
OH CAN’T YOU SEE
WHAT ART IS MEANT TO BE
YOU’RE THE EYE THAT DEFINES IT ALL
WITHOUT US ART IS DESTINED TO FALL

(VINCENT and PAUL GAUGUIN start singing over each other)

VINCENT/PAUL GAUGUIN:
SOON YOU WILL SEE!

PAUL GAUGUIN:
So… Do you see what I mean now?

VINCENT:
Honestly… no. You can’t define art based on the way you do it. Art is based on
how an individual perceives the world around them.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
What do you mean by that?
VINCENT:
Every true artist finds their inspiration from the world around them, and based on
how they perceive it, that’s what is painted onto their canvas.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
(He chuckles) My friend, there’s only one true way to do art, and that’s the normal
way. Not everyone takes inspiration from the world around them. So I think you
should take a page out of my book and try it my way.

VINCENT:
Y’know what I think? …I think you’re full of crap.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Excuse me?

VINCENT:
Everyone knows that art has a multitude of ways of being expressed. Not everyone
has to do it your way.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
(He scoffs) Yeah, sure. Whatever you say.

VINCENT:
I’ll prove it. I’m going to step outside and show you that I can create a masterpiece
based on what I see.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
I would love to see you try.

VINCENT;
Watch me! I’m going to create a masterpiece!

(VINCENT steps away from the scene, leaving PAUL GAUGUIN standing still
speechless, crossing his arms)
PAUL GAUGUIN:
…He’s not going to create a masterpiece. (He laughs)

(ACT 1, SCENE 8: VINCENT is now outside the Yellow House, with him carrying
a canvas and a paintbrush with a painter’s palette)

VINCENT:
Now, what will I paint… What will I paint?

(He ponders for a bit, before gazing at the backdrop of the Yellow House)

VINCENT:
(He gasps) Ah! I’ve got it.

“BLOOMING PARADISE (REPRISE)”

VINCENT:
And… done! That’ll show him.

(PAUL GAUGUIN walks onto the stage next to VINCENT)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
What on earth is taking so long?

(HE stops midway through his sentence as he is mesmerized by VINCENT’s

painting of the Yellow House)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
My Lord… that is exhilarating! You mean to tell me you just now finished this?!

VINCENT:
That’s right. I told you every true artist gathers inspiration for their works.
PAUL GAUGUIN:
No kidding… You were absolutely right, Vinnie. I definitely owe you one.

VINCENT:
Well… I know how you can pay me back.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Alright, alright! I’ll say it. I’m sorry for ever doubting you.

VINCENT:
(He laughs) That's not what I meant. I was thinking we could finally work on that
collaboration that initially brought us here to begin with.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Oh… well of course. I’d be more than honored.

(The two then shake hands)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Well… it’s best if we’d get some rest before sunlight. It is getting awfully late.

VINCENT:
You’re right about that… the first and only thing you’ll ever be right about.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Hey now, I’ve already admitted I was wrong, okay?

VINCENT:
I know, I’m just messin’ with you.

(They both laugh, as they both walk off stage)

(END OF SCENE 8)
(ACT 1, SCENE 9, We now see a backdrop resembling the interior of the famous
Yellow House, where VINCENT is seen painting on a canvas while sitting on a
stool. PAUL GAUGUIN enters the scene, angered and irritated.)

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Vincent!
(He walks up angrily to VINCENT, where he notices him from behind)
What the heck is this about?

VINCENT:
(Confused and puzzled) What are you talking about?

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Don’t play dumb with me, Vincent. I know what you did, and you’re complete
scum for it.

VINCENT:
Excuse me? What did I do?!

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Word on the street says that you’re fully responsible for our project?

VINCENT:
Oh… I still don’t know what you’re referring to.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Just quit the act! It’s common knowledge that you’re entitled and self-proclaimed.
Of course you would want to take all the credit without my approval.

VINCENT:
Well… In all fairness, I am way more committed than you’ll ever be.
PAUL GAUGUIN:
You cannot be serious right now! I’m the reason you’re so famous and well-known
now. If it weren’t for me bringing you into my community, no one would know
your name, and I mean no one.

VINCENT:
That’s false and you know it. The world deserves to hear my name, for I am
dedicated to my craft unlike you.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Let’s face it, I was always better than you! Everyone knows of your art because of
me, Vincent, me! I made you famous!

VINCENT:
You’re speaking nothing but nonsense. Let’s face it, I’ll always be more of an
artist than you’ll ever be.

PAUL GAUGUIN:
Take one look at yourself Vincent- Please, for the love of God, just take one look
at yourself! You're no artist. You're just like everyone else: an absolute fraud! I
honestly can't believe you think so highly of yourself, when you can barely credit
other people for their own hard work. Just face it.. you'll never change the world.

VINCENT:
Is that so? Do you really think that I’ll never change the world?

“WITHOUT ME”

PAUL GAUGUIN:
IN THIS WORLD, YOU’RE NOTHING TO BE
ALL YOU DO IS THRIVE OFF OF ME
YOU USED MY KIND TO PROFIT FROM MY WORK
YOU REASSURED ME AND GAVE ME THE WORD
BUT ALL OF THAT WAS TO PROVE
THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING BUT IMPROVE
YOU’VE COME TO SHOW THAT YOU’RE WORTHLESS
WITHOUT ME, YOU OUGHTA BE PENNY-LESS

I EXPECTED BETTER OF YOU

CLEARLY I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO
TOGETHER I THOUGHT WE WOULD MAKE PEACE
BUT YOU SHOWED THAT YOU WERE A MISSING PUZZLE PIECE

IF ONLY I KNEW WHAT YOU WERE

I WOULD SAVE MYSELF FROM THIS BLUR
BUT I KNEW SOMETHING WAS OFF ABOUT YOU
YOU SHOWED YOUR EGO, AND THAT’S WHAT GOT ME THROUGH

VINCENT:
(laughs egotistically) This is gonna be good.

OH, YOU’VE DONE IT NOW

YOU’VE REACHED MY LIMIT AND MY BREAKING POINT
YOU JUST DON’T KNOW WHEN TO QUIT, DO YOU NOW
I PROMISE HERE I WON’T DISAPPOINT.

DON’T YOU SEE WHAT YOU ARE WITHOUT ME

YOUR STRUGGLE IS WHAT YOU ARE TO BE
WITH ME GONE I WON’T BE HERE ANYMORE
WITHIN THE BLINK OF AN EYE I’LL BE OUT THE DOOR

YOU BETTER LOOK OUT, ‘CAUSE YOUR END IS NEAR

I’M THE ARTIST HERE, SO YOU BETTER ADHERE
TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY, SO LISTEN UP
YOU’RE BETTER OFF HERE, OR YOU GONNA CORRUPT
YOU’VE TAKEN ALL FROM WHAT I’VE SHOT
AND NOW YOU’RE GONNA PAY WITH WHAT YOU’VE GOT
DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU DON’T HAVE A THING
I KNOW YOU’VE GOT A WORTHLESS SONG TO SING

PAUL/VINCENT:
WITHOUT ME, YOU’RE BETTER OFF GONE
SO TAKE YOUR LEAVE AND CARRY ON
LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SING
YOU’VE GOT NOTHING TO BRING

PAUL GAUGUIN:
You can’t intimidate me!

VINCENT:
Say that again.

PAUL GAUGUIN
You… can not intimidate… me!

(It is then implied that VINCENT has then violently sliced off his ear)

LOOK AT ME AND WHAT I’VE DONE

ARE YOU PROUD OF ME NOW
YOU SEE, I’VE ALWAYS BEEN BETTER WITHOUT YOU
THERE’S NOTHING HERE THAT YOU CAN DO

YOU’RE SHOOKEN UP FROM THE CORE

AND I’M HERE NO MORE
IT’S MY TIME TO TAKE MY LEAVE OUT THE DOOR
(VINCENT is the only one left seen standing, with PAUL GAUGUIN gone from the
scene)

(END OF SCENE 7)

(ACT 1, SCENE 8: VINCENT is seen laying on a hospital bed, with a canvas on an

easel sitting right next to him. His alarm clock goes off, as he is awoken from it in
pure shock)
VINCENT:
Ahh!

(He turns off the alarm clock)

VINCENT:
Stupid old thing… (He sighs)

(A sudden knock is then heard from a distance)

VINCENT:
You can come in,

(MARGUERITE GACHET, the daughter of PAUL GACHET, walks in, holding a

notepad and pen)

MARGUERITE:
Good morning, Vincent. How’d you rest?

VINCENT:
(He slightly groans) Same as usual… (He holds his neck in pain) My neck is really
sore.

MARGUERITE:
Sounds to me like someone slept on the wrong side of the bed. (She slightly
chuckles) Oh, my apologies, you probably have no clue of who I am.

VINCENT:
You’re right, I don’t. Where’s Paul at?

MARGUERITE:
Well, I'm Marguerite. Marguerite Gachet.
VINCENT:
Wait… you’re his daughter?

MARGUERITE:
That’s right. I’m just here to take his spot today since he’s busy with other clients.
Don’t worry, I’ll do everything he does.

VINCENT:
Is that so?

MARGUERITE:
Mhm. I’ll give you your medicine, take your vitals, serve your food…

VINCENT:
(He mumbles) Probably won’t play chess with me…

MARGUERITE:
What was that?

VINCENT:
Nothing important…

(MARGUERITE looks at VINCENT with a smug, condescending look)

VINCENT:
Well… Paul would usually play a game or two of chess with me. It helps me get
my mind off of all the terrible things that’ve been going on in my life.

MARGUERITE:
Ah, I see. Well, back then I also used to play chess. My father actually taught me
how. I wouldn’t mind playing with you, Vincent.

VINCENT:
Wait… really?
MARGUERITE:
Of course not. After all, I wouldn’t be doing my job if that weren’t the case.

VINCENT:
Well… let’s carry on with it, shall we?

(She then walks over to the table that has the chess board on it. She picks it up,
and brings it towards VINCENT. The two begin to play and move the pieces across
the board)

MARGUERITE:
Y’know… they say chess is a lot like life in a sort of way.

VINCENT:
…What do you mean?

MARGUERITE:
Well… Chess is a reflection of the choices you make in life, as every move you
make can either advance you forward, or backward… But then you’re out there on
your own, against all these obstacles that try to stop you. But, you’re still given a
chance to become a winner that takes all.

VINCENT:
Am I really given that chance, though?

MARGUERITE:
Absolutely… Vincent, you still have a chance to change the world. As far as I
know, you’re an amazing artist based on what Paul told me. You’ve just got to
discover how committed you are to your true passion.

“YOUR TRUE PASSION”

VINCENT:
I still don’t know how I feel about this.

MARGUERITE:
Trust me Vincent, it isn’t hard at all… just follow my lead.

MARGUERITE:
I KNOW ITS HARD
WHEN YOU CANT SEE THE LIGHT IN THE DARK
JUST FOLLOW YOUR HEART
AND YOU'RE LEFT WITH THE SMALLEST OF SPARKS

HOLD YOUR HEAD UP

THE NOTES WILL LEAD YOU HOME
THE MORE THE BETTER
THE FASTER THE PAIN IS GONE

I KNOW IT
YOU'RE GOING
TO PLACES YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU COULD BE
AND I SEE THAT YOU'RE CLIMBING
THE MOUNTAINS YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU COULD REACH
ALONE
YOUR PASSION’S IN THIS MELODY
AND HOME IS WHERE I KNOW YOU'RE MEANT TO BE
YOU'RE MEANT TO BE, BE, MHMM

VINCENT:
I TRY MY BEST
BUT I CARRY THIS WEIGHT ON MY CHEST
IT'S HARD TO DIGEST
WHEN I'M LEFT WITH PICKING UP THE REST

OF THESE PIECES
I'VE BROKEN
IM SPEAKING UNSPOKENLESS TRUTH
AND NOW THAT I'M AWARE
I COULD CARE LESS
IT'S ALL CAUSE OF YOU

I KNOW IT
I'M GOING
TO PLACES I THOUGHT I COULD NEVER BE
AND I SEE THAT I'M CLIMBING
TO PLACES I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD REACH
ALONE
MY PASSION’S IN THIS MELODY
AND HOME IS WHERE I KNOW I'M MEANT TO BE

VINCENT:
WHAT I’VE CREATED

MARGUERITE:
WHAT YOU’VE CREATED

BOTH:
IT'S ALL JUST APART OF THE PLAN

MARGUERITE:
IF YOU THINK YOU'RE READY

VINCENT:
I’LL BE COMMITTED
BOTH:
I’LL WORK WITH THE CARDS THAT WE’RE HANDED
I WON’T REGRET THIS

VINCENT:
I KNOW IT
I'M GOING
TO PLACES I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD BE

MARGUERITE:
AND I SEE THAT YOU'RE CLIMBING
TO PLACES

BOTH:
YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU/I COULD REACH ALONE
YOUR TRUE PASSION’S IN THIS MELODY
AND HOME IS WHERE YOU KNOW YOU'RE MEANT TO BE

VINCENT:
AM I MEANT TO BE?

MARGUERITE:
YOU'RE MEANT TO BE

VINCENT:
IM MEANT TO BE

BOTH:
HOME IS WHERE YOU KNOW YOU'RE MEANT TO BE
