[INTRODUCTION]

Hi, this is Luke Wee, the application engineer here at Quantum Global Philippines Corporation. I will
introduce to you the Chrome on 1950-01 Dash Gate partial discharge test study. First, let's define
partial discharge. Partial discharge is an electrical discharge that does not completely bridge the gap
between two electrodes and it can occur in gaseous, liquid or solid insulating medium. It usually
begins with invoids, cracks or within solid by an action. Continuous partial discharge causes damage
to internal transit stores or modules, which ultimately will affect the product life and could cause
safety issues.

[VISUAL AID]

Here you can see the blue waveform is the AC voltage. And as the voltage improves, there will be
some surge current. And this is what we call the partial discharge. It is a very weak and very high
frequency discharge. And when we do partial discharge testing, we normally use AC voltage either
with AC or DC material because you will have high voltage in the peaks and then drops to zero. Doing
this, it is like the material has time to return to normal condition.

[TEST REQUIREMENTS]

This document outlines the test requirements for a photocopier. It involves two methods, B1 and B2,
for conducting an isolation test. The voltage initially rises from zero to VINID, followed by a partial
discharge test at a higher voltage level. Method B2 involves separate processes, but may not provide
a real-time condition due to voltage drop. It's crucial to ensure a sufficiently high voltage for
accurate readings. Generally, method B1 is preferred, although it's worth noting that partial
discharge, while acceptable in the short term, can pose long-term issues. This underscores the
importance of the 9501-K partial discharge tester, which is a high voltage, current partial discharge
tester.

[KEY FEATURES]

These are the key features of 9501 dash K partial discharge tester. We have a built-in AC high path
testing partial discharge detection functions. For example, AC high-pot voltage output from 0.0 and
KV AC to 10 KV AC up to 0.01 micro ampere to 300 micro ampere, high accuracy and high resolution
3.0 meter. One peak of column to 2,000 peak of column partial discharge detection function, high
voltage contact check, compliant with IEC 60747-5-5, VDE 0884 and IEC 60270 standards. With a
built-in IEC 60747-5-5-10 standard, separate design for measurement and display, three stages of
voltage test to meet safety, monitor requirements, partial discharge measure result display in peak
of column, partial discharge occurrences 1 to 10 times, setting for defect judgment, traditional
Chinese, simplified Chinese and English operating interface, graphical editing function and standard
line USB and RSP 2 remote control interface. And this is the front panel of 9501 dash K partial
discharge tester.

[FRONT PANEL FEATURES]

The front panel features various keys and indicators. These include the function key, which changes
based on the screen. If it's grayed out, the function is invalid. There's a test key to initiate tests, a
name index key for managing tests, and a system key for accessing the system menu. The indicator
section has testing and judgment lead indicators. Other keys include USB host, cursors for
navigation, data entry keys, stop and start keys for control, and the power switch.

[REAR PANEL FEATURES]

The rear panel has ports and connectors. These include RS-22 for PC connection, LAN, AC power
socket, ground terminal for safety, device interface for USB terminal on PC, a hundred interface for
optional devices, and control signal connector for normal operation. There's also a high voltage box
power cable for supplying power.

[IEC STANDARDS]

There are specific IEC standards for different types of testing. These include 60747-1 for general
testing, -5-5 for optoelectronic devices, -9 for IGBTs, and -15 for isolated power devices. The partial
discharge test voltage should be 1.875 times the maximum insulation operating voltage.

[IEC 60747-5-5 REGULATIONS]

For IEC 60747-5-5 regulation, choose either method A or method B for partial discharge testing. The
result should be less than or equal to 5 picocoulombs. QPD represents the limit for testing. Isolation
voltage should be higher than the inception voltage, which should be higher than the extinction
voltage. The test procedure varies for different devices.

[HIGH VOLTAGE CONTACT CHECK]

High voltage contact check is crucial for accurate testing. Connect the probes correctly and ensure
short-circuiting for return and high voltage contacts. Start the test, and if HVCC fails, recheck the
connections.
[TESTING METHODS]

There are five testing methods (B1 to B5). Parameters include voltage, high and low limits, key
range, Q-max, and partial discharge count. Adjust settings based on specific testing requirements.

[METHOD B1 TO B5]

Method B1 involves transitioning from hypertest to partial discharge test. B2 switches from
hypertest to partial discharge when voltage resets. B3 combines hypertest and partial discharge in
one step. Methods B4 and B5 add quality tests for enhanced quality control.

[SETTING A PROGRAM]

Press test to enter the program screen. Select the desired method and set parameters. Before
testing, conduct a get offset to empty the load current. Proceed with the partial discharge test after
get offset is completed.

[DISPLAY DURING TESTING]

During testing, the screen displays various information. This includes partial discharge values, test
mode, pass/fail status, voltage and current values, and real-time measurements.

[IEC60270 GUIDELINE]

IEC60270 provides guidelines for partial discharge measurement. It distinguishes between narrow
band and wide band filter design standards. The tester uses narrow band for accurate
measurements.
