▪ Basically, CLT ensures that localized configuration for a target country/region is
generated consistently with preconfigured configuration settings and can be adapted in

Configuration Localization Tool
Important to know

▪ Using CLT is a pure implementation approach. No features specific to the target country/region are delivered.
▪ Country-specific legal requirements need to be achieved with the generated localized configuration, the
configuration capabilities of the chosen source country/region, or by using the localization extensibility
possibilities to extend the solution.
▪ The localized business configuration is the responsibility of the partner or customer. This also applies to
keeping the solution legally compliant in the future (“legal changes”).

Key success criteria:

▪ Plan your localization carefully in advance.
▪ Be aware of the legal and business requirements.

Current considerations

Not a template approach. Result cannot be transferred to other countries/regions

Local specific functionality needs to be realized with extensibility

Currently, just Germany released as a source country. More countries/regions under evaluation

No mix-and-match of standard localizations and CLT countries/regions available

CLT is currently in early adopter mode (controlled shipment) – limited seats available

Responsibility of legal compliance implementation is fully on partner/customer side

Currently, set of 400+ scope items are available with SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2308 release and more planned

Unit 10: SAP S/4HANA Cloud 3-System Landscape
SAP S/4HANA Cloud 3-system landscape
Overview

What is the 3-system landscape (3SL)?

▪ The abbreviation 3SL refers to the 3-system landscape of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, which
consists of a Development tenant (DEV), a Test tenant (TST), and a Production
tenant (PRD)
▪ Clear separation between configuration / development and testing (separated into two
dedicated tenants)
▪ With this separation, advanced development projects are supported and developer
extensibility options are enabled as well
▪ With SAP S/4HANA Cloud 3-system landscape you are not getting an on-premise
solution, but you get all the benefits of a cloud solution along with extra flexibility on top
For whom is 3SL available?
▪ The 3-system landscape is generally available for new customers with an SAP
S/4HANA Cloud contract since September 2022 and generally requires SAP Central
Business Configuration as a mandatory tool
▪ In future, existing customers will be converted from Manage Your Solution/Solution
Builder to SAP Central Business Configuration and from a 2-system landscape (2SL)
to a 3-system landscape

Unit 11: Parallel Project Line
Parallel project line
Business challenges with single line projects

Parallel Testing: A single line project does not facilitate parallel work. With parallel projects,
users can perform scoping, org creation, and configuration changes in parallel such that all
decisions made in the parallel project do not impact the ”main” line. For example, users can
validate CLT in a parallel line and accordingly decide if they wish to use the same scope in the
main line or discard the project if not required.

Traffic Distribution: The parallel project enables parallel processing, which reduces the traffic in
the single line.

Risk for Production: The parallel project provides the opportunity to test configuration changes
in parallel such that the user has the flexibility to move these changes to the main line (connected
to production) only if the tests were successful.

Note that the Parallel Project Line feature is not yet generally available.

Extension Extension configuration

▪ Main Line: This is the project via which configuration is deployed to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud development (dev) system that is connected
to the test system, which is further connected to production. Customers go live with the main line and work productively with it.
▪ Project Line: This is the project that is created as a “copy” of the main line, wherein the customer can add (extend) scope on top of what is
copied from the main line. Customers can also extend the org structure and perform configuration changes. The project line is connected to
the SAP S/4HANA Cloud dev, which is further connected to test but does not have any connection to production.
▪ Branching: This is the process by which the project line is created as a copy of the main line. The project line is created when the customer
is already in the state of performing configuration changes in the main line.

▪ Rebase: All changes done in the main line since the creation of the project line or the last merge are brought into the project line by this
process. It is a necessary step before moving changes in the project line to the main line.
▪ Merge: All changes done in the project line since the creation or the last rebase are moved into the main line by this process.
▪ Scoping Conflicts: Scope decisions made in the project line that invalidate or defy the scope decisions made in the main line are reported
as scoping conflicts.
▪ Configuration Conflicts: Configuration changes made in a configuration activity for the same record in both main line and project line,
such that the changes are not the same.
▪ Conflict Resolution: For successfully moving changes between project line and main line, it is mandatory to resolve the conflicts.

Managing configuration conflicts

▪ Configuration conflict scenarios

− When a customer modifies a value of a record of a
configuration activity in main line and project line, such that the
changed values are not the same
− When a customer deletes a record in one line and modifies the
same record in another line
▪ When are configuration conflicts detected?
− Configuration conflicts are detected during rebase or merge.
▪ How to resolve a conflict?
− Customers can review the conflict details in SAP Central
Business Configuration. They can then launch the configuration
activity in the main line or project line to change the different
values to being the same or handle deletion accordingly.
− Once the conflict is resolved, the changes are received by SAP
Central Business Configuration. Once all conflicts are resolved,
the customer can proceed with a rebase or merge operation.
