WRITTEN ANALYSIS OF THE CASE

Miko Chiong Go, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of BS Hospitality Management, and a graduate
of one of the prestigious universities in Zamboanga City, works as a supervisor in one of the
prestigious corporations in the country – the Abala Corporation. In his stay with the company for
more than 5 years, he worked his way to the position that he has now through hard-work,
dedication, creative mind and innovative thinking as well as a courageous trait of calculated risk-
taking. Over-all, he has the making of a very good entrepreneur – a characteristic that he is well
aware and plans to capitalize. Hence, after a 5-year stay with Abala Corporation, he decided to
resign and put up his own business. This is with the thinking that he can make more money than
being just an employee of another’s company.

With the plan to put up a business, he assessed his resources. A 100 sq. m. of property where an
old restaurant is situated brings a lot of possibilities. However, upon his investigation, he found
out that only very few eats in the restaurant. Moreover, he observed that surrounding the old
restaurant are carenderias, street-food carts, and other eateries. Added to all these observations,
he overlooked the fact that he only has a very small amount of savings in his bank account to start
a business. As a matter of fact, financial management is a weakness that he needs to be more
equipped.

With the foregoing circumstances and situations, Miko Chiong Go tried to figure out what to do.
