E1. This question was done well by the vast majority of candidates. Few candidates
showed any working, most simply wrote down an answer. A common error in part (b) was
16. A common error in part (c) was 31.
E3. Part (a) was well answered. In part (b) the frequent error was not to simplify the
expression fully.
