A Buddhist Pilgrimage and

Healing Mantra Retreat

Tara Mantra and Mandala,

Phase 1 : April 6, 2023 (Wed)- April 16 (Sun)


Everyone arrives in Kathmandu and checks into
our hotel in Baudhanath. (For anyone wanting to
arrive earlier, we can assist with making
arrangements)

April 6th-10th: Our itinerary begins with four


nights/three days in Baudhanath, during which
time we will visit and meditate in various sacred
sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Highlights are the
Great Stupas at Baudhanath and Swayambhunath, the riverside caves of Tilopa and Naropa,
and various temples and monasteries.

April 10th – April 17: After our acclimatization in Baudhanath we will transfer to Parping, a
Buddhist temple town located an hour southeast of Kathmandu. Many great Buddhist masters
instrumental in the flow of Tantric Buddhism lived and practiced here almost from the time of
the Buddha until today. Most of the group will stay in the Manjushri Retreat Center; overflor
participants will stay at the Sorig Healing Center a few likomaters away, commuting back
and forth to the Manjushri Retreat Center for group practice. Sacred sited in Parping include
the enlightenment cave of Padma Sambhava, the Vajrayogini temple of the Pamtingpa
brothers, and many more. Here we will make a one week retreat focusing on the mantra and
meditations associated with White Tara, one of the most popular healing yogas in all schools
of Tibetan Buddhism.

April 17(Monday) Fire puja in the morning. After lunch we will transfer to Bhaktapur, one of
the three ancient kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley, where we will stay in the Bhaktapur
Resort. This is the official conclusion of Phase One, and some participants will leave at this
time either to return home or to undertake private pilgrimages in Nepal or elsewhere.
COST OF PHASE ONE: The general cost of this initial program is $1500, based. A single room supplement
costs an additional $500.

Included and not included: April 5-9th during stay at Baudhanath, Kathmandu only breakfast and lunch are
included. People are free to organize their own evening adventures. We are happy to recommend local
restaurants. As for the time in Parping, all meals are included.

Please note:
Anyone staying in the Sorig Healing Retreat Center will have the option of receiving medical consultations
with Dr. Sherab, and also medical treatments including herbal baths, healing massages, etc. They will have to
pay for whatever medical services of this nature that they request.
Phase 2- pilgrimage to either Yolmo or Maratika (depending on road conditions)
April 18(Tue) to April 23 (Sun)

April 18(Tue) Baktapor to Maratika


April 19(Wed), 20th (Thurs), 21st(Friday)
Maratika cave & Mandarova Cave and Guru Rinpoche Initiation.
April 22nd (Sat) - return to Baudhanath, Kathmandu
April 23rd (Sun)- depart

Cost: 2nd Phase only $750 (Single supplement room is $300 extra.)

Phase 3-
Several participants have requested optional extensions. Requests have been made for Lumbini, Pokara and also
trekking in the Everest region. We are happy to try and facilitate these requests with the assistance of our lama
friends in Nepal, and to get a pricing on whatever is rerequested.

All fees are due in full by February 25th.


If cancel by March 10th, 1/2 will be returned and after that there will be no return.
