TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. CLASSIFICATION OF DRAWINGS
In order to specifically define the contents required for drawings and data and provide a coordinating and
expediting basis between KBR and the Supplier, drawings and data are classified into Codes A, B, C and D.
(Note: KBR will be referred to as the Purchaser.)
2. CODE A REQUIREMENTS
2.1 General
Drawings and data in this code contain priority information urgently required by Purchaser to complete
design work and to confirm compliance with specifications.
2.2.1 The Supplier Drawings and Data Index shall list all anticipated drawings and data inclusive of any
drawings and data from any subsuppliers. THIS INDEX IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF COMMITMENT.
2.2.2 The Supplier shall provide the following information on the index:

2.2.3 AN UPDATED INDEX SHALL BE SUBMITTED WITH EACH ISSUE OF DRAWINGS AND DATA.
2.3.1 Dimensioned outline drawings shall show location and details of all Supplier/Purchaser interfaces.
The following paragraphs outline specific requirements for subcategories of refractories.
a. Brickwork and tunnel cover slab - Expansion Joint and Buttress Locations.
c. Ceramic fiber
1. Blanket, board, etc. - Layed-up walls (wallpaper) arrangement including anchorage and joint
locations
2. Modules:
ii. Detail design of anchoring hardware and details of typical furnace areas such as bullnose,
peep doors, access doors, modules in tube lane, Z-neck Corbel and sloped section, etc.
iii. Installation instructions including use of special tools, welding machine, etc.
iv. Type of packaging the modules will receive for protection during shipment, i.e., banded, shrink
wrapped, cardboard wrapped and banded, etc.
v. Warranty for the materials quoted. Minimum 12 months warranty shall be included in the
quote.
vi. Users list describing successful usage of the quoted materials in similar applications.
3. CODE B REQUIREMENTS
3.1 General
These drawings and data contain information required by Purchaser to review and confirm overall
compliance with the specifications.
3.2.1 Detailed drawings shall be provided for all components along with a descriptive list of materials and
their quantities and drawing indicating their locations. The amount of excess materials and anchorage for
field wastage shall also be included. The following paragraphs outline specific requirements for
subcategories of furnace refractories.
a. Brick, tunnel cover slab, block and mortar - Lintels*, Tie backs*, etc. as well as attachment details

c. Ceramic fiber
1. Blanket, board, etc. - sizes of segments, anchors*, etc. together with attachment details
3.3.1 These drawings or diagrams show all mark numbers, sequence of assembly or erection, and any
notes necessary to ensure satisfactory assembly, preparation for shipment and erection. Copies of the latest
drawings are to be issued to the field with the first shipment as part of the Bill of Lading package.
a. Brick, tunnel cover slab, block and mortar - Information regarding requirements of Technical Standard
MB11-4TS for walls, arches, tunnels, target walls, etc.
c. Ceramic fiber
1. Blanket, board, etc. - walls and arches, doors, splices, openings seals, etc.
2. Modules - Installation of all areas in scope of supply and method of field repair.
3.4.1 General
a. Published information on the product detailing maximum temperature, service (operating) temperature,
and where applicable, density, shrinkage, cold crushing strength, thermal conductivity, modulus of
rupture, and chemical analysis, etc.
b. Any safety hazards associated with the quoted materials shall be clearly stated in the quotation and
noted on the packaging in which the material is shipped.
d. Identify the quantity and location (by lining symbol) of all brick, castable, tunnel slabs and miscellaneous
insulation. The amount of excess material for field wastage shall be quoted separately. Any requested
spare material shall be quoted independent of the field wastage.
e. Type of packaging the product will receive for protection during shipment to the job site.

State properties of Insulating and Refractory firebricks in the units shown herein. These shall be
determined by the applicable ASTM test method and comply with the Classification Requirements of
ASTM C27, ASTM C155 and Table 1 of the Technical Specification MB11-2M.
1. Dimensions, with chemical analysis in accordance with ASTM C573 and expected hot modulus of
rupture in accordance with ASTM C583.
2. Historical data showing that Supplier can manufacture slabs completely in accordance with the
requirements herein.
3. Details of Supplier's previous service experience with his product to enable the purchaser to further
valuate the acceptability of the product.
c. Insulating Castable
The amount of excess material for wastage including rebound shall be quoted separately. Mixing
requirements, restrictions on method of application, curing and drying requirements, and surface
preparation requirements.
Methods of manufacturing shall be by the spun process and comply with the requirements of
ASTM C892.
3.5.1 Shipping and packing shall be in accordance with Purchaser Technical Standard MB1-4TS.

c. Site storage requirements
d. Shipping and packaging details
4. CODE C REQUIREMENTS
4.1 General
Drawings and data in this code contain information for contract compliance, record purposes and for use by
the equipment user.

4.2.1 A detailed plan developed by the Supplier that chronologically details all manufacturing operations and
the corresponding inspection/testing activities as required by the code(s) of construction, the Purchase Order
and the Supplier's own quality procedures. The Supplier shall also incorporate into the Quality Plan, the
Purchaser's inspection activities defined in the Purchaser's Inspection and Test Plan.
a. A detailed Supplier Quality Plan shall be submitted to the Purchaser for review prior to scheduling the
Pre- Inspection meeting. A Pre-Inspection Meeting shall not be held until the Supplier Quality Plan has
been reviewed by the Purchaser.
b. The Supplier Quality Plan will be discussed in detail at the Pre-Inspection Meeting. Purchaser
comments and modifications to the Supplier Quality Plan shall be finalized at the Pre-inspection
Meeting.
c. The Supplier Quality Plan shall be revised in accordance with the agreements set forth in the Pre-
Inspection Meeting and resubmitted to the Purchaser for final acceptance.
a. Brick, tunnel cover slab, block and mortar - Data collected reflecting requirements of Technical
Specifications MB11-2M and MB11-4M.
b. Castables - Data collected reflecting requirements of Technical Specifications MB11-3M and MB11-6M.
c. Ceramic fiber - Data collected reflecting requirements of Technical Specifications MB11-1M and
MB11-5M for all ceramic fiber materials. Storage and handling requirements and any safety hazards
associated with the materials shall be clearly stated and noted on packaging in which the material is
shipped.
2. Modules
Note: All installation requirements must be shipped with the first shipment of each commodity as part of the
Bill of Lading package.

All data such as design calculations, test certificates, and performance data required by governmental
authority or third parties, where such third parties have been engaged, shall be submitted.
Labeling and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) shall be provided in accordance with the Terms and
Conditions of Purchase Order. Number of copies furnished shall be as listed on Page 1 of this standard.
5. CODE D REQUIREMENTS
5.1 General
The Supplier shall provide a complete list of all parts shipping as an assembly or shipping loose with the
assembly.
