Abstract
The Beser Formation, the Bojonglopang Formation, and the Cimandiri Formation are the three main constituent formations
in the geological mapping area. The research area comprises morphological characteristic of High Hills and Mountains, with
slopes ranging from 3 to 55%. Geographically, the study area is located between 107°8.1' and 107° 10.8' East and 7°1.2' and
7°3.9' South and located administratively in several area of Campakamulya District, Cianjur Regency, West Java Province.
In the studied region, geologic formations were deposited between the Middle and Late Miocene. According to Alzwar
(1992), the Beser Formation deposited in a fluvial-to-shallow marine environment during the Late Miocene. The
Bojonglopang Formation and the Cimandiri Formation were deposited in a shallow marine environment. However,
according to Sujatmiko (1972) and Silitonga (1973), the age of the beser formation is Pliocene. The relative age difference of
the Beser formation, as determined by previous research, is one of the crucial facts that must be investigated further.
According to volcanic deposits and shallow marine deposits in the study area, which may have different geological ages. The
Bojonglopang Formation is interfingering with the Cimandiri Formation, which comprises mollusk-rich coral limestone and
layered coral-cement limestone. Sukamto (1975) explained that the Middle Miocene Cimandiri Formation consists of
claystone, sandy claystone, sandstone, and cross-bedded claystone. Geological processes in the studied area were identified
by field mapping techniques, petrographic analysis, and microfossil analysis. Through geological mapping observations,
eighty-one rock outcrops were discovered. This data approach can be used to estimate the stratigraphic order, geological
structure, and geological history of rock formations in the study area based on the identification result. One of the study
results found that calcite limestones are present in the Bojonglopang Formation, which contradicts with previous research
findings. It is hoped that the observations will increase geological knowledge, especially in the study area.
