This research was led by Sister Callista Roy's Adaptation model of nursing, which was
published in 1976. The RAM considers the individual to be an adaptable system in continual
contact with an internal and external environment that provides a multitude of stimuli that either
endanger or support the person's unique completeness. The essential responsibility of the
individual is to retain integrity in the face of various external influences. “Integrity is the degree
Adaptive responses contribute to health which is the process of being and becoming
integrated and ineffective or maladaptive responses do not. Each person's adaptation level is
unique and constantly changing and can affect how well they are able to cope with stress, anxiety
or other stress-related situations. Sister Callista Roy's adaptation paradigm includes a level of
adaptation, four adaptive modes, and coping techniques. The Physiologic –Physical Mode, the
physiological mode is concerned with the body's fundamental physiological demands and
adaptations in terms of fluids and electrolytes, activity and rest, circulation and oxygen,
nourishment and excretion, protection, the senses, and neurological and endocrine function. The
Self-concept mode, this mode includes both the physical self and the personal self, as well as the
ethical self, which involves self-ideal and consistency. The Role function mode, which refers to
the performance of obligations based on social rank, is determined by the desire for social
integrity. The interdependence mode, involves once relations with significant others with support
Roy classifies environmental stimuli into three types: focal stimulus, contextual stimuli,
and residual stimuli. The focal stimulus is the internal or external input that most directly tests
the person's adaptability. Context stimuli are any other phenomena arising from a person's
internal or external environment that may affect the focal stimulus but whose effects are unclear.
Residual stimuli are any other phenomena arising from a person's internal or external
environment that may affect the focal stimulus but whose effects are unclear.
This is a study of student nurses' levels of adaption and coping techniques during the
COVID-19 pandemic. Sister Callista Roy's Adaptation Model serves as the foundation for this
investigation. This framework supports student nurses' roles in how they adapt to changes and
how student nurses respond to many types of stimuli that impact several causes in a given
circumstance. The conclusions will be taken from the study's findings. For example, how student
nurses establish relationships with future patients that include integrity in order to ensure
effective communication and relationships, how a student nurse stands as a member of society,
and how the student nurse reflects on his/her emotions and perceptions as a coping mechanism.
